Concord Costco has the '05 meadowlark for 29.99. The second wine of larkmead, Gary V seems to like the wine, I figured I might as well give it a shot.

Interesting concerning the price differential. Roseville (near Sacramento) had the 2005 Nenin for $59.99 when I was up there last week.

Price correction on the 2005 Nenin. Price was $60 not $70. Sorry!

Saw the '05 d'Arenberg Dead Arm today for $51.99. Seems to have gone up since Dave Tong saw in CA for $43.97 in December. Or it could just be the dang WA state liquor taxes. Mad

Not wine, but a very good cheese.
Don't know how far this gets distributed, as the cheese is made in Seattle at the Pike Place Market, but if you see it, do yourself the favor and get some.
Beecher's Flagship Handmade Cheese--item #35366
Sort of a white cheddar style, this is one of my favorites. It has a rather beefy taste to go along with the creaminess. Normally this goes for $17-$20 lb. and is sold in 4-6 oz. pieces. Today at Costco I bought a 1-1/2 lb. wedge for $8.65 lb. Big Grin

Has anyone noticed that the prices they are selling the wine for is release pricing instead of futures pricing like they have done in the past. It seems that costco isn't a deal anymore. I see CH Nenin and Clos du Marquis for the same price at my local wine shops. Does anyone have any insight to why Costco has changed their policy?

Yes and No.
Our local wine shops have been coming into Costco in Pentagon City, Arlington Va. and copying all the prices so they can compete with Costco.
The free market is wonderful.
As to Futures versus Relase price for Bordeaux. This years Costo did a sign up sheet to reserve the 2005's so they could better match their purchases to their customers. The prices were not the first future price but they are still pretty good espicially on the 1st and 2nd growths. These prices were for reservation only and required no payment. True Futures are all paid for 2 years in advance and if the company goes bust you are out your money. In 2006 the futures were
Lafite $583, Margaux $680 $ Mouton $550.
Two years later the Costco price cash and carry is
Lafite $700, Margaux $790 and Mouton $630.
The current street price is
Lafite & Margaux $1500 and Mouton $625.
Long Live Costco!!!!!!!

Any suggestions on a wine to pair with this cheese?

I'm not so good pairing wine and cheese, but anything you would pair with a good English Farmhouse cheddar would work here as well. I was drinking a chenin blanc with it the other night, and that seemed to go well.
