Still find the first growths etc., but the prices are no longer special.
Nothing like those heady days when 2000 Lynch Bages, Pichon Baron and Cos went for $56-59 (others retailed around $90-100) and Margaux, Latour, Haut Brion and Mouton all went for $259 (others $370-450).
Still reasonable prices and good selection, but ahh..., those were the days that I fondly remember.

I died laughing on the inside and told her they don't sell first growths at World Market. My laugh of the day.
Hey "wine expert", another thing. Plural for Bordeaux IS Bordeaux, no "s".
Originally posted by Bella Donna: Oh well. I thought Pavie was a first growth since someone was looking for it around $299. It should be a first growth at that price. My mistake...
The Pavie should be <$140 at Costco, the Latour at $299.
I keep looking for 03 Sauternes in NorCal with no luck. I saw a few 03 Coutet, but that's all and they disappeared very quickly. Have they come in and I blinked and missed them, or is it still early days?

At the Costco in south Irvine, CA yesterday, they had the 2003 Larkmead Napa cab (RP 93) for $38, the 2003 Perrin & Fils CdP Les Sinards (WS 91, RP 86) for $23, and the 2004 Perrin & Fils Vacqueyras les Christins (RP 90-93) for $15.

Union/Camden had the Larose, but was sold out of the Pichon. Still worth checking on from time to time though they restock. They also have LaForts for $66.67 I think.
