Mighl,
As I assume you are aware, the Lagavulin 16 year old single malt scotch is outstanding, one of my favorites.
Good price to boot!

(place joke here)

This is why it is called cash and carry. Most of the items that are available both online and in the stores will have a higher price online with the shipping. This is to encourage you to go into the store and buy more than just that one item. We all know, it's not possible to goto Costco for just one thing. Also by not having to package it, pay someone to package it, label it and ship it, it saves them money and time and they pass that on to you at the store.

BD, that Dom might go down again at Xmas time. When they first got it in, it was 96.99. Then 98, and now its 108.99 at stores here. In the grand scheme of things its only 10 bucks. Now days you save that alone in gas if one store is that much closer than the other. Winesearcher has it from 99-200 all over. Nothing in TX accept an internet retailer.

I've yet to hear of a Kirkland wine that was worth the money. So far in every case there's been as good or better wine for the same price or less.

FYI there's also a Kirkland NZ Sauvignon Blanc for about $10.

It would be interesting to hear what the WS reviewers think about them. Hey, maybe one of them should be a TAA wine...

I was wondering....I live near the Peabody, MA Costco, not exactly the fine wine capitol of the U.S. and the finer bottles of wine sit in that store for quite some time and they store them standing vertically on the shelves. Has anyone had a problem with the wine being spoiled from Costco?

Never had a problem, though in CA they store the better bottles horizontally. Costco's model is pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap, don't have stock hanging around, so I doubt that they stand vertically long enough to really have an impact.

If you're worried about it, stick with the Kim Crawford Big Grin

I had a very bad experience with bad wine at Costco. I went into their main store in San Diego, CA. They had 8-10 cases of 2000 Bordeaux displayed. All first growths. Every single bottle was bad. Label stains, excessively raised corks, low ulage. This wine had been cooked on a loading dock.

I picked up several bottles and looked at them very closely. A woman with a clip board introduced herself and asked me what I was looking at. I explained and she began looking at the wine. She called someone on a walkie talkie and he came and looked at the wine. They decided to pull all of the wine.

Two weeks later the wine guy at that store told me they sent every bottle back to the supplier. This was done at the recommendation of the wine expert they brought in to taste the wine.

I trust Costco. They have some dumb wine people, but most of them I deal with are honest and experienced. Generally, there prices are good and they have a good cross section.

The bad experience, I watched them do the right thing and pull tens of thousand of dollars in bad wine.
