The idea of this thread is to help fellow forumites to track down some good buys at your local Costco. With the ever popular '00 Bordeaux at Costco thread, a good number of the forumites were able to benefit from it, so hopefully this new thread will be kept alive and well to serve it's purpose.

If you find some hot items, please take down the item number and pricing regardless if you are going to buy them.

Of course, timing is very important, especially for the smaller allocation items such as the 2001 Rieussec. So after you bought what you need, please take a quick moment to post the information (store location, wine, price, item #)so other forumites have the chance to get in on the good deal.

1999 d'Yquem at Fountain Valley, CA for $135, don't know item # (or whether it's a good buy?). this store also HAD 2001 Rieussec for $45 w/3 limit a few weeks ago.

For anyone who's interested the Costco at Damen and Diversey has 2001 Ausone for about $180 (I can't remember exactly, but it was around that price). That strikes me as a decent but not staggering price.

They also have Phelps Backus 2000 for $140. No thank you to that.

Man, do I wish Costco could sell wine in Canada! The St. Francis Cab sells here for C$30, the Lapostolle $34, and no one can undersell those gov't monopoly figures. The prices posted above make me weep.

I'm not sure exactly how my purchasing and drinking habits would change if we could buy wine at the Costco kinds of prices, but my bank balance would sure be different after a dinner party.

Danville Costco, 2000 Dunham Cellars Syrah, they got one case by mistake, $33.99 (Item #693811), i grabbed a bottle.

Is it the '89 Margaux or Lafite that's been sitting in the office for 2 years? What is their policy on returning corked wine? Is it worth a flyer?

Just curious, I live in Oklahoma and we do not have a Costco. Is it like Sam's Wholesale Club?

It's very similar to Sam's Club (with the whole warehouse-like thing going on and membership required) but in my opinion, it's a lot better than Sam's Club.

This is key to getting anything at Costco.
Note that the item number usually stays the same regardless of vintage.

I started making a note of the item numbers of high-end stuff recently.

Take the wine back and they will issue full credit.

I took a corked bottle of 2000 Latour back and got full purchase price for it, although I would much rather have a replacement bottle.

Quick question...

When Costco has very limited production stuff in stock (e.g. Rieussec) do they usually have it out on the floor or is it hidden in the back?
