Hmmm… Let me see if I’ve got his straight. The Americans can’t stand criticism of Parker and the Australians can’t stand criticism of Halliday. Yet both claim the other is being petty and defensive. “You started it! No, you did!... Nanananananaa…”

And simply because you think it is so, doesn't make it true either. We will just have to agree to disagree.

Tee hee. This immature poster enjoys this exchange. I love it when a poster takes a sentence, filters it through his own myopic viewpoint, and insists his interpretation of the sentence is the only true, correct and possible interpretation. Gospel for the masses, if you will.

TH111,

In Gilligan's Island, TH111 was a pretentious prat; I can see why you have selected that moniker.

Calling me an "immature poster" is not the sort of language that the original TH111 would have used, and you have got that comment completely wrong!

I am not immature; at 55 years of age I am probably more mature than 97.831% of the posters on this board. If you have a look at the other definition of immature, that won't fit either. I started posting here in the last century, and whilst my registration date shows as Dec 2001, this date represents the third incarnation of the board that required registration.

For all I know, you could be an 21 year-old, wet behind the ears wine lover with about 5 minutes vinous experience. I was probably drinking fine wine before you were conceived.

You are also incorrect when you call me myopic; with my multi-focal, coke bottle thick specs, I can see just fine.

Um, TORB? Reading is fundamental, as Francis used to remind us regularly.

In my post, I am calling myself immature, not you. It is a tongue in cheek acknowledgement to a prior Pommie post where he called my post immature. I did not address the part where he called me uncool, because I was devastated that he does not think I am cool since his I value his opinion so highly. With proper therapy, I hope to come to terms with this issue some day.

And as to the rest of my post, again, I was referring to Pommie being myopic, etc., not you. Geez, he is the guy who can't even accept that there are other valid ways in which to interpret Halliday's comments, that his way is the proper way and everyone who disagrees is an idiot.

But if it makes you feel any better, I will accept you calling me a pretentious prat, though I still have a lot to learn from Pommie before I can be considered a pretentious prig.

And yes, I am a little bit older than 21. Heck, I was MUCH older than that when I became stranded on this godforsaken island.

Gee, there's lots of interest from people feigning indifference to this topic. If you don't have an opinion, why waste your time here???

Thurston, don't worry about TORB's comments. He's an old drunkard and often has problems reading English. Razz

Wine tastes better upside down.

Bloody Mexicans (south of the border) below me and Banana Benders ((Queenslanders) to the north of me. What an insane world! Eek

Aussie, my being an old drunk has nothing to do with reading the ambiguous, pretentious pollywaffle (that will confuse them Wink ) that comes out of TH111's gob. Big Grin

TH111 - you need to wear a hat on that island all the time, otherwise the sun will fry your brain.

I think to bring this to a head, a wrestling match is required between Halliday and Parker a la Borat style.

The loser has to drink their bodyweight in blue nun (add 50 points for the US market). Wink

Sure instant, I'm willing to agree Parker has the palate of a dog.

And, right on cue, my point is illustrated.

Now, to prove Aussie's not a one-trick pony, I'm going to get him to perform a show tune for all of you. Wink

Interesting......

Pomerollvr/Jeff Leve posted a post here that calls me a liar, accuses me of taking his words out of context, and calls me "uncool.

I responded to his accusations and comments over 48 hours ago and Jeff has not had the decency to respond.

Now how "uncool" is that! (And that my friends, it is a rhetorical question.)

Cheers

I haven't read through all of this so if I'm repeating something, I apologize in advance. Halliday said a stupid thing. You can discuss the merits of his views but they will continue to be discredited by his commentary. I don't really like these full throttle wines either, but I'm in the American market. Should I add 5 points to his score? What good does that do anyone? He wrote this to discredit others' points of view instead of relying on his own. This was not aimed at the American market BTW, but squarely at home. It seems that some in Australia may be leaning towards these wines too. Really, there are only a relative handful of people here who know who he is.
