Your notes on 2005 Rieussec said "not the 2001, but superb" - how would you say it compares to the 2003 and 2002?

It's hard to say but I think that it could be the compromise between the opulent 2003 and the racy 2001....
But I doubt it's worth 100 points. |

James, what is YOUR BDX '05 buying strategy?
You don't have to list the names of what you'll buy, my question is more towards How Many wines? When? |

I am going to buy a few cases of the top wines and then may be five or six case of reasonably priced ones that sell for about $20 or $30 a bottle. I am going to buy them as soon as they come out. How about you? |

James,
1) I am dealing with wine stores which may sell less than a case on futures, so I don't have to buy "by case" 2) I'll use "shot gun" approach and go after some 1st growth (Mouton in particular) and producers that I follow and who rarely disapoint, in 3 bottles incriments. 3) I'll keep VERY close eye on '04 as it between 2 greats and may incur sale preasures when released. |
