Am I the only dork who entered all the guesses into an Excel spreadsheet to analyze how big a range each guess had going for it?

I hate it when I reveal my true nature.

BTW, two people have guessed 4 and 3820... Careful about that!

I will sell mathematically good guesses for $1. Or three for $2.

I may be reading too much into this but you did say the contest was similar to the 2000 post contest so my guess is 278 Smile

Uhh. Apparently not enough, I'm afraid. The letter "W" is the 23rd letter of the alphabet. Not the 24th. Confused Big Grin Big Grin

This is a complicated contest Vino Me. Did you hire a lawyer to help you with the rules to make sure no one can argue the winner? Wink

If there is a tie, can't we play online rock/paper/scissors to break it?

Oh by the way, I pick 100.

Passion turns intentions into habits.

dbw- Someone already guessed 4. Please pick another number.

mwagner- AC155996 is the way many Cub fans keep track of time. Anyone who has been to Wrigley has seen the sign on one of the rooftops across the street on Sheffield. Here is a picture of the sign. "AC" stand for Anno Catuli which is Latin for "Year of the Cub". The 1st 2 numbers "15" stand for the number of years since the Cubs won a division title (here Grossie got it wrong because the 1st 2 numbers on the sign currenty read "00" since the Cubs won last year. The 2nd set of numbers "59" is how long it has been since the Cubs won a pennant (1945) and the last set "96" is the number of years since a World Series (1908).

Here is an updated list of numbers which have been taken:

1,3,4,12,13,52,56,68,69
100,111,205,218,278,351,516,609,617,645,777,810,982
1017,1234,1327,1423,1458,1559,1632,1729,1744,1855, 1864,1893,1908,1954,1963,1966,1972,1979,1984
2001,2004,2005,2024,2110,2174,2202,2374,2444,2500,2592,2719,2905
3124,3219,3232,3495,3594,3659,3764,3820,3921
4027,4192,4264,4318,4321,4432,4567,4700,4765,4791

Thanks!!! When I was doing my Masters at U of I @ Urbana, I went up to Chicago for a few Cubs games (my roomie went to Northwestern for his BS, so he was a huge Cubs/Bears fan). I never noticed the sign, however. Well, needless to say... my first visit instantly turned me into a Cubs fan!!!

What a blast up there... Goose Island for a quick pre-game beer, a Saturday afternoon game, blue skies, cool temps, Chicago dogs... man I think I'll start looking for a job in the Chicago area!!!

mwagner- During the Summer, we have open enrollment into the Chicago Wine Mafia. Be careful though, once you are in you cannot leave.

2003. For the simple fact that this is the year Chicago finally took to a classier way of dealing with the Nubs: drinking wine. And much to the pleasure of the Chicago Mafia.

Congrats Vino Me. Thanks for the knowledge and the laughs.

I will go with 155...the number when you total up the uniform numbers of the likely starting rotation that is going to take the Cubs to their first World Championship in a long, long, long, long...Tinkers to Evers to Chance...time.
