In the NY Times obit for Robert Mondavi, they report that, "He also entered into a joint venture with Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s Château Mouton-Rothschild, creating Opus One, a separate Napa Valley winery that produces one of California’s rarest and most expensive wines, selling for more than $350 a bottle."
Is that really the retail price for Opus these days?! I thought it was more like $200 -- and you could find it at discounters for $25 or $50 less.... |

That is a terrible price. I've seen recent vintages under $150.

$279 Canadian a bottle (CAD and USD are about par) in Ontario but it sits on the shelves collecting dust.
The most overpriced wine on earth IMO at that price. I'll take $90 Dominus every time. "There's no substitute for pulling corks" Alexis Lichine |

Please do not tease us. You said you were going over to torment your neighbor tonight with that fine bottle of Ridge. Please proceed post-haste. |

Considering that you read it in the NY Times, the accuracy level of the article should rank in the Wikipedian depths.
Moo I'm a dairy heir. Think about how stupid the average person is. Then realize that half the people are stupider than THAT. By definition 50% of the population is below the median intelligence level and all it takes to get elected is 50% + 1 vote. |
