Does anyone have information on a good website which details the different wine bottle styles and shapes, and perhaps the origins of those bottle types?

As a side note: Does anyone else agree that the Riedel website is not very good and rather cheesy looking?

I am not sure of any web sites, but there are some great books out there. Karen McNeill's book is great, but expensive and very in depth. Andrea Immer's Great Wine Made Simple is a great book and an easy read.

Here is a little help--
the bottle shape you find most Chardonnay in is called a Burgundy bottle, the bottle most Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot come in is a Bordeaux bottle. Champagne comes in a Champagne bottle. The slender bottle for Riesling is a hock bottle.

Hope I as of some help.
