So I recently purchased a bottle of wine from a reputable location. Upon arrival I noticed one of my capsuleless bottles has wine creeping up the side of the cork. It has seeped up about 75% of the length of the cork.
I'm not worried about the current state of the wine, but what about the future as I intended to let it lay for 5-8 years.
My question is, do I return the wine and get a different bottle? Or am I just being paranoid, as the main cause for concern is that the bottle is capsuleless and any other wine this issue would have been out of sight out of mind.

In 5-8 years if there's a problem they'll either refund your money or replace it with the latest vintage. Which would be fine if you had no clue there was a problem. Far better to contact them now and request a swap. It's up to the retailer whether they feel comfortable selling it again or sending it back to the distributor/maker.

All things are relative. If we're talking about a 1961 Haut Brion I'd say so what. If we're talking about a 2001 Harlan I'd say go ahead and try to exchange it.
