Yes, I could. No one could say that I didn't give it a shot to try to get some of the members here to see things from the point of view of a new member.

I've said my peace here. And on my blog. And on the radio this morning as well, actually.

Hey, if you can figure out all 12,000 registered members in two days, even you can imagine that figuring out one troll is a piece of cake!

Think about how stupid the average person is. Then realize that half the people are stupider than THAT.

By definition 50% of the population is below the median intelligence level and all it takes to get elected is 50% + 1 vote.

If my skin was so thin, why would I speak my mind now vs. just dropping out 2 days sgo?

Think about it.
There is a distinct difference between having a thick skin and a thick skull.

I'm betting on the latter.

Well, my CSW is a fake according to some long-tenured WS forum members.

And we are in thread about new posters here, not tasting notes...

07 Banyan Gewurztraminer (Monterey County, CA): Somehow it's 1D despite lychee, lime, rose petal, & melon. Still, hard to beat for the price

07 Banyan Viognier Madera (CA): Fat & oily, with a crazy banana nose that's all over the place. Not "pure" by any stretch - but damn fun!

07 Hyatt Chardonnay (Rattlesnake Hills, WA): Vanilla syrup & pears, good balance, but a tad astringent on the finish. Decent pick, nice $.

06 Hobo Zinfandel (Dry Creek Valley, CA): Ripe as hell but red berries, licorice, & pepper keep things interesting. Good pick for BBQ beef.

I went out and bought these this morning.

Dude-

I'm going to post just one word of advice here and leave it at that.

Whether it was your intent or not, you've successfully accomplished the following:
1) Polarized yourself from the Community your attempting to integrate with.
2) Obtained the labeling of being a troll yourself.

You've two choices at this juncture:
1) Just go away.
2) Create another name and start again, on a more peaceful and less antagonistic/whining footing. This ones pretty much burned itself out.

Just for clarification, I never said your certificates were "fake". I said this:
quote:
OK. So your certificates get you little more than nothing. Simple. They seem like nothing more or less than an "Award" of types. Did you get them for free, or was there some type of payment involved? OK. You're a "Wine Blogger". Swell. You can type and maybe construct a full, complete sentence. I'm happy for you.

May your strength give us strength

May your hope give us hope
May your love bring us love ...

I'm not a journalist or anything like that, but my post was "rhetorical sarcasm". Sorry for the confusion.

My first post was a criticism - not an attack - of how WS handled the Goldstein issue. My subsequent posts **clearly show me taking WS' side** on Goldstein's ruse, but also letting them know that there are people in the wine world who want to know more about how the editors will examine their awards process.

Those posts have been ignored by the trolls in the forum. I've been quoted out of context several times, because it served the interests of the malicious members of the forum.

Criticism <> attack.

You have people on this forum who not only attack, they consider it a badge of honor...

Your questions weren't ignored, they were answered. You are the one who chose to ignore or disregard them, and continued to rehash the same stuff over and over. Eventually interjecting with your qualifications to a community that includes winemakers, retailers, people who've been drinking fine wine before you were born, etc. You come across as arrogant and obnoxious.

This isn't a conspiracy. People are reacting to *your* behavior.

But, some of those who recently registered for these boards did not do that. Some initally posted because they felt insulted by a broad generalization that was made against all bloggers. They defended themselves which is certainly not wrong. And which most people on this forum would have done if they felt so insulted. Some of the new posters received only derision and name calling for doing so.

Sharkey also told 1WineDude: "If you do want to contribute more, then please do so. I would expect such contributions would be positively received."

Yet when 1WineDude did so, starting a thread on PCLB Storage Conditions, he was met with a snide comment.

I did say that -- obviously -- and I still think that it is valid.

Evidently, it needs to be pointed out that starting a thread and asking others to feed you information is not contributing. 1WineDude has made 39 posts to date. At least 34 of them have been on the Scammer thread and this thread. Thus, in my opinion, he pretty much remains a one topic non-contributing poster.

He did have one contribuatory post that I can find -- on the empty bottles thread. There were no negative responses to that post that I can see.

This is really very straight forward: contribute and participate positively (which, by the way, can be done with humor and sarcasm and does not necessarily mean agreement)and be welcomed, or continue the miopic obsession of demanding that WS respond to you in the manner that you think that they should respond to you and be unwelcomed.

Corrected one type that I noticed (I'm sure that there are others).

She started in a snit. James Molesworth had made an overly broad comment about bloggers, and she saw red and lashed out, instead of merely pointing out it was a generalization.

Ironic is that her blog epitomizes what he was talking about. Of course, she considers pointing out her hypocrisy to be yet another "personal" attack.

I then (politely) challenged a couple false, absolutist statements she made. She took that personally, too. And, in seeing red, she couldn't allow herself to see, or acknowledge, my points.

Since she respond, I'll sum them up:

-She asserted that everyone here with an alias is anonymous.
-I pointed out they aren't the same thing and that most of the regulars here are known. And I pointed out that since many bloggers post anonymously, there's no guarantee her link to her blog would reveal her identity. And that either required effort.
-She responded with a "DUHHHH" and then ignored my point.

-Her other assertion was that anonymity has no place in free speech.
-Finding this statement ridiculous, I responded with an extreme example and a wine forum example.
-She replied with a mocking insult and "If one has to hide to "avoid the appearance of speaking for one's employer" as you suggested, then perhaps they have no business speaking out at all.
Roll Eyes ooooo...."

That speaks for itself, I think. I strongly disagree. One is either in favor of free speech or not. If you restrict it at all, it isn't free speech. And, some of the people with the most valuable voices on a subject could lose business or their jobs for speaking out.

I know people who self-censor *because* they are posting under their real names. I know people who are only able to contribute to an important discussion under an alias.

Ok, I have been reading 1wine's comments on this and the scammed thread from the beginning. I thought about posting numerous times. I stopped because I am HAPPY. I really try not to be negative, BUT, Dude, dude, dude...

First off, I personally do not believe that you don't care about driving traffic to your 'for profit' website. I doubt I am alone in this.

I find it hard to believe that as a serious wine blogger you didn't find this forum until now. It is also odd that since you found us, you have only posted twice outside the scam and the new post thread. Congrats on recycling, by the way. Roll Eyes

I read your blog. It doesn't say how long you have been "into" wine. Do you have a CT handle? In other words, is there something besides your blog or certifications that makes you worth listening to at all? I don't mean as a newbie or ordinary citizen. I mean as someone purporting to be an authority.

Next, stop waving your "certifications". They really don't mean all that much here. I know because I have the EXACT same ones, plus a few. It means you read a cook book, it doesn't make you a chef or even an expert on food. You are learning to identify what you eat.

I am Happy CSW. I would have been just Happy but it was taken. I am proud that I passed my CSW exam, but compared to what a lot of the folks on this forum know, I am just starting out.
Get out of these threads and read. It doesn't mean you can't post, just stop trying to sound like a self righteous expert.

1wineturd, Earth2WineWoman, DickPF, and whoever else has GigondAss's thong in a bunch, you guys need to grab a glass of TBird (no connection to the actual human TBird), and either go away, or come back with other handles, as KSC02 suggests.

Look, among many of the forum members, I'm one of the most reviled members here. There are a few who "get" my vibe, many who don't. Does that stop me? Hell no. Usually, I have a lot of fun here, don't pretend to know everything about wine (because I DON'T), and roll with the punches.

This is a good crowd, and even jerks like GigondAss and Board-O know a hell of a lot about wine, and are good for the occasional laugh.

Chill, check this out: Clicky, (but don't ask McFerrin to do it in concert because he's not playing that shit anymore).

Leave me out of your fantasy world indybigot. You are only reviled because of your previous racist statements.....
