Ok, I can't believe that no one has already done this. Yes, I read thru all 13 pages (as of August 22 7:37 Pm EDT) of the Wine Spectator has been scammed thread.
By my count, there are 17 posters who registered between Aug 20-22 and posted to that thread. |

The real question is how many of these trolls are just the same person with multiple screen names.....

That's exactly what I was thinking. I get that a thread that has been as controversial and widely discussed as the "WS/scamishness (scamicity? scamitude?)" thread is going to elicit interest and new posters, but find it hard to believe someone would go to the trouble of registering just to post once or twice to a specific thread. I assume that a person would have some interest in wine before reading and responding in that thread which is about a wine award; it doesn't make a lot of sense to me that the poster wouldn't reply to another post in either Wine Conversation or Tasting Notes. Though I'd be the first to admit that anything's possible. ___________________________ Cheers! |

Does having 59 whopping posts make you an expert. I truly cannot believe how childish the members of this board have acted toward new members in many posts I have read, whether they've posted "59" posts or whatever mine are 5 or 6. I read the threads and if I have something to contribute I may or I may not. I understand why there are so few new people on this board. Why would a new person want to come here with all the "senior (I know it all so you go away) members" making it sound and look like their own private club. Many of the things I read on here make it sound like you think there is some sort of espionage against WS. There obviously is a limited amount of real wine knowledge being shared for a wine lover to want to be here and it makes me think that Wine Spectator could care less or they would ask some of you people that have no life to be more inviting to someone that would like to be here and participate. I only have one name, one screen name and one profile if it makes you feel any better. Regards, Carrie |

CRB, you're right in that I don't post much. I read alot and try to contribute when I can. I don't have the expertise of many on this forum and learn much more then I could ever contribute.
With that said, I try to POSITIVELY contribute to this board when I can. As Seaquam said, it's obvious why many of the posters on the other thread have registered. In case you haven't noticed there have been different points of views expressed on that thread by many long time posters. That's what makes these forums great. Hang around awhile. GA: Touche' |

Why not attack the posts themselves instead of the # of posts per poster. Seems to me there has been a lot of grumbling/eye-rolling about the quality/merit of the restaurant awards by lots of regular posters for a long, long time. This really is not much different in my opinion. "No TV and no beer make Homer...something, something" |

The typical first time poster is a spammer - here to shill their wares and gone. This is a new phenomenon.

Actually, I'm the last person to attack the number of posts. My point was to the people who obviously signed up to pile on to the "sensationalism"(positively or negatively depending on your perspective), but have no intention to add to the forums. How many of them do you think will actually take the time to even read this thread? I give CRB credit for at least doing that.

Are you referring to me? If so, please don't do it again. "No TV and no beer make Homer...something, something" |

Even with that, I still prefer this anonymous half-wit-fest to the eBoob board where just about everyone could be pictured in your link. "No TV and no beer make Homer...something, something" |
