I just rec'd a bottle of port I bought at auction. Everything about the bottle is in good shape except the label has come off. It's a older vintage, so I'm not surprised. But, I want to somehow put the label back on the bottle. I'm not likely to pop the cork for another year or so.

Any ideas?

I have an older bottle of Bordeaux that I purchased. The label had come off and it arrived with the labe reattached with clear celaphane wrapping, attached the opposite side of the bottle. Not pretty, but I could truly give a rip. It's what's inside that matters to me.

Unless you're planning on selling it or displaying it, I don't think it really matters.

I'd use scotch tape.

I bought a few bottles from winecommune recently and the same thing happened. I used a "glue stick" and stuck it back on no problem.

Thanks for all the replies, serious and otherwise. I think I'll opt out of the blind tasting option, so I guess it sounds like a glue-stick. Let me know if anyone is interested in how it works, I'll send pics...

thanks again,

I've had a similar situation. Glue sticks work okay, double sided sticky tape is better, but is slightly more obvious.

D'oh! I hadn't considered that! I often remove labels for a tasting book I keep. The work is basically done for me. I guess I was approaching it from a presentation point of view. As I mentioned, I plan on popping this in a year or so, but I still wanted it to look nice for then.

Thanks again,
