Ha. A tried and true strategy for a certain Italian cheese family, who shall remain nameless. Wink

The only highly rationed CdP was the Clos des Papes.
I drove some distance outside the city this morning to a smaller area and ended up being limited to 3 bottles. I know someone else who got 4 in another area.

I don't believe any outlet had more than 12 bottles to distribute so, in retrospect, that was doing pretty well.

3 is not bad at all. Hope the price was reasonable. It is pushing $160 here.

That's more than I paid for an '05 magnum, a couple of years ago. Eek
(before the scoring, admittedly)

Yeah, me too. You saw what I got off Winebid for a mag of the '04. I think '07 will be my last vintage of this wine unless prices come down to earth. There are still reasonable prices on older vintages, so I can grab some of those if I need a Clos des Papes fix.

Likely my last vintage of this wine (new) as well and will also continue filling in back vintages for many CdPs.

Nice snags, KSC! I'm envious of the Clos Des Papes pricing. I have 1 bottle, bought at the Chateau that was about 50-55 euros. I got home to find out that that's about half the going price here, boy was I pissed off for not buying more!

*******
Not looking good for next year either.

I have never been disappointed in buying too much of a single wine..... but have been regularly disappointed to not have enough bottles of a single wine.

750s

24 St. Prefert Girauds
14 Hillaires
12 Beaucastels
12 Clos St. Jean
6 Autard cote Ronde
6 telegraph le craus
6 Bousquet des Papes Chante Le Merle VV
6 cristia renaissance
6 Giraud tradition
6 solitude
3 telegraph Blanc le craus
3 Clos des Papes
3 Hillaires d'Armand
2 Domaine Grand Veneur VV

1.5s

4 St. Prefert favier
3 Beaucastel
3 cristia renaissance

I think I am finally done- I would like to add a few more magnums (since those have the greatest likelihood of being in a good place in 30 years). I might add a few Prefert Faviers in 750 to keep an eye on the aging curve of the mags. I have probably another 3-4 cases of gigondas, lirac and CDRs. I have been really disappointed that the nicer CDRs seem to be missing Nashville. I've asked at two LWS - no 2007 St. Cosme gigondas or CDRs or Santa Duc available in TN. I don't know if that means they were all snapped up early, or if TN never got an allocation or if the whole allocation went to Memphis, etc. This is why I hate the stupid alcohol laws in TN..... Brought to you by the same state that still seeks to ban the teaching of evolution every few years. [close rant]

yes.. and then we will sell a few bottles to hungry point whores to pay for the entire US allocation of 07 CdPs. Then we will put all the bottles in one secure location and occasionally go swimming in our loot.
