I recently had a wonderful wine and would like to try more. It was an '06 Lucien Albrecht Pinot gris and it was fabulous and a real eye opener. I now understand the term "off dry". I always thought it meant getting suckered into consuming a very sweet Gewurz. or Riesling. Any raving reviews of others? Preferably available stateside (Southern Cal.)

much thanks, Scott

Albert Mann produces excellent wines at relatively modest prices. Seek out his wines, especially the Grand Cru Furstentum.

Just one more sip.

Mann is excellent as Board-O stated.

Unfortunately, we do not see much Mann in Dallas. One of the easier wines to find is Zind Humbrecht, and always solid.

Oh, I agree completely with the ZH rec, but it'll cost a bit more than Mann. I don't think I've ever had a disappointing ZH wine with the one exception of a leaking cork.

Just one more sip.

The most distinctive Alsatian Pinot Gris comes from Dme. Ostertag. He uses barrels for some pretty interesting results.

Had a mind blowing PG from Blanck.

Ditto this. Dirler for a more austere style. Zind Humbrecht for a more flamboyant one.

And don't forget Dom. Weinbach.
Not as good as their rieslings but still excellent PGs.

I've been very impressed by the PGs I've tasted from Roland Schmitt. Moderately priced, with great purity & focus.
