I am 33 years old and can honestly say I have been drinking wine (on and off and on) for...33 years. How? My father is Italian! He read in the Italian newspaper that small quantities of wine given to new borns was good for something or another. So he diluted it with water and would bottle feed me drops of wine with water. Fast forward 12 years and I am begging to have a Coke with my steak instead of a glass of wine. Fast forward another 20 years and I am spending every free moment tracking down bottles of wine to add to my budding collection. One year and 316 bottles later I look back and cant believe I ever traded a glass of wine for a Coke!

Christmas Eves spent at my aunt's house. My aunt is the best hostess. Gracious, welcoming, fabulous sense of humor and a sensational cook!

I recall champagne toasts with beef tenderloin; cognac with my aunt's lethal three layer devil's food cake.

I can go on and on. The memories are intact; vivid and alive.

I think the best is a bit overstated. Everyone knows Martha is the best.

Grun,
How do you know her aunt isn't Martha?
Oh, yeah. The sense of humor part. Nevermind.

Can't remember exactly how young I was, but my parents allowed to take a minute sip from their glasses during Sunday dinners. I didn't understand how anyone could prefer to drink that tart, red stuff instead of, say, blackcurrant juice.

My first memory of wine - not imbibed - is seeing the Sunday-bottle on my parent's dinner table when I was 3-ish.
