I've had mixed success in dropping in to random Binny's during recent business trips to Chicago. Any chance some of the local Chicago folks might be willing to share the "hot" Binny's locations from the past week for the major deals - I'll be in the Chicagoland area again tomorrow. If not, I fully understand. Thanks in advance for any help you might be willing to provide.

Plainfield is normally pretty good if your out that way Willowbrook had some Carlisle, Tor and Turley which is kinda unusual

They had a bunch of bin ends last week but just about every location is picked thru now. Never know when something new gets closed out though and if they close out a wine, it is at all stores. VM

VM is right, things were picked over last week. However, the bin ends are not all necessarily chain-wide. There are quite a few that are store-specific, meaning it will be on bin end at one store, but full price at another. Although things were pretty consistent with this last round, so perhaps the store-specific bin ends were a 2012 experiment. _______________________________________________________________________ Wine is passion. The stores are pretty spread out. Which area will you be in - that may help narrow down an answer.

My "local" is also Plainfield. The bin end sales seem very arbitrary throughout the year and I have not seen any differentiation between locations.

Thanks so much to those that responded. I'll be downtown to start and then working my way north and west with time to jump around to several stores. Just wanted to see if I could increase my odds a bit

The downtown stores certainly have the higher concentration of rare/high end stuff, so are a good place to start. However, they are usually the first to be picked through, so you may very welll find something worth purchasing, but probably not bin ends at this point. I've had random luck at the Downers Grove store, but with less frequency as of late. For a while their store management team was less than stellar, and one would find bin ends there that had been cleared out at other stores a month or more earlier. But it's been a couple of years since I have seen that happen- January to March 2011 with the 2005 Pape Clement Blanc. Perhaps the employees set a few aside when the sale started and then decided a month or two later not to pull the trigger, I don't know. As to the differentiation between stores- it was definitely in place last year, confirmed by my store manager. A perfect example is the NV Launois...on bin end in January 2012 at the Algonquin store and in June 2012 at the Bolinbrook store, but never has it been on bin end at St. Charles, believe me, I'd have known. The Luca Chardonnay too- a January bin end in Bolingbrook, but full price in St. Charles. Good luck on your hunt Nixster. If you have time for an offline on one of your trips, be sure to post. _______________________________________________________________________ Wine is passion.
