Recently tried a new wine “Edge” 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, very nice at only $18. This appears to be another second label with the excess juice of a much more expensive California winery. The wineries web site claims that the wine is “Blended by a notable winemaker,” this must be the current marketing strategy to move excess wine. So who is the “notable winemaker”?
Other wines that are rumored to be excess juice are Waterstone using Harlen and Whispering Dove using Pahlmeyer. These wines drink pretty nice for the money, so there may be some merit to the rumors. Does anyone know of some other second labels?

I had the opportunity to taste all three (Edge, Waterstone, & W. Dove). All fantastic! I think the Edge was around the same price as the Waterstone and had a better structure. I'm curious to find out who the winemaker is....
I bought a couple of bottles of Edge and I tryed one last night.
I had three (3) people taste the Edge with me.
We were all in agreement that this wine is drinkable (85) (note this rating was very generous) but I personally only drink 4-5 bottles a week and I want to drink better wine when I do drink.
The price is great and wine is Ok but why not drink a little less often and drink much better cal cabs at a price of $40-45?
so much for my opinion
