I read Suckling's article that recommended, "Drink now." That surprised me, so I checked out other reviews, and I believe it was Tanzer who recommended holding on to it for a few years at least. What to do?

Has anyone tried this, have any opinions, etc.? I'd appreciate any kind of help.

I haven't tried it, but here's a TN from Daniel Rogov which may be helpful:

quote:
Full bodied, firm and concentrated but with excellent balance between smooth tannins, wood and fruit, this dark ruby wine offers up multi-layered flavors and aromas that include dark fruits, spices, minerals and spring flowers, all of which linger very nicely on the long finish. A generous and enchanting wine, best to drink from 2004 – 2012 or longer. Score 95.

P.S. Rogov is the full-time food and wine critic for the Israeli English-language daily, HaAretz, and a personal favourite critic of mine.

I recently came across Rogov. He's reviews are comprehensive. Check out his site:Rogov's reviews

I'll reiterate that I wouldn't touch any '97 Brunello until at least 2007.

I agree with futronic. I had a '97 Banfi Brunello a couple of months ago at a dinner party and it was a waste. Granted the host did not decant it, but nonetheless there was little there to enjoy at this juncture.
