w+a: Hope you have been well. I took some time off because I was studying for Level I of the CFA exam. I needed to devote as much time to it as possible in the final 2 months leading up to the test. I took the exam on June 6th and just received my results yesterday. Luckily I passed, so I will be taking Level II in June 2010. I stayed off the boards after the test because I felt like I hadn't seen anyone while I was studying (especially my wife). I also switched positions at my company during this period, so that took some adjusting as well.

At any rate, I am hoping that things have returned to normal for a little bit. Look forward to catching up with you and everyone on the boards.

Great! Get your ass up to Chicago, Keeno.
There's Otis' CDP end of August and, if you hurry, you'll be the only one on the waiting list.
Odds are good that 1 will drop and you'll be in.
No better way to 'catch up' than then & there. Cool

I would love to come to Chicago. However, my wife and I have a packed August schedule. That is one of the only weekends we are going to be in town. Our fall schedule is also crazy. If things weren't so busy, I would be there in a second. Sounds like a really great time and I am bummed that I won't be able to attend.

Are you still having a B-day bash in December??? That is still possible on my end.

I'm not preparing it so I have little to go on. D is keeping me out of the communication loop. There is talk of that, yes. I'm sure more info will be available in the coming months.

Curious tm, why the heavy hit on the Beaucastel and the seeming trepidation on the Clos de Papes by contrast?

I found the Beaucastel at $60 a bottle - the Clos de Papes was $120 (and they only have 4 or 5 left). Nothing against Clos de Papes. I'll probably pick up more down the road. I'm loading up on good, ageworthy 07s from around the world (which appears to be the Rhone and not much else - cali pinot was good but not really ageworthy) since my son was born in 07. More for me than for him, but it would be nice to share a bottle with him in 20 + years that he will enjoy.

At those prices I would have passed on the Clos des Papes and just bought more Beaucastel (or other stuff considering you got a case of it already).

Certainly, the 20-yr mark should bode well for the Beaucastel.

thats why I only bought 3. I wanted a few because people I trust have told me it is a do not miss wine. I'm looking at other options. As the summer plays out and fall shipping kicks in, I expect more deals on 07 rhones.

I'm expecting that it will be tough to find 'deals' on Clos des Papes.
The reviews have been nothing short of stellar.

thirsty man: thanks! I would welcome the opportunity to get together again. I am toying with idea of coming to Nashville for the Dolphins game in December as I am huge Miami fan.

In regards to 2007 CNDP, I would be on the lookout for the 2007 Saint Prefert Charles Giraud. The Saint Prefert wines are always delicious and Mr. Molesworth has been very complimentary of these wines in this vintage. The reviews are not out yet, but he mentioned in his blog that it should rival Clos des Papes. The Giraud is stylistically different though, but it is half the price and extremely easy to like. Just my $.02.

I have season tickets and a huge tailgate..... Shoot me an email if you want to try and put it together. Thanks for the tip on the St. Prefert - I'll see if I can find any at a good price.

if you wanted to pick a port for the 21st bday, of the ones I've tried, I'd store away the Noval 07 btw.
