Both you and Impulse picked up some interesting stuff. Well done.

Enjoyed the auction, took a shot at a couple, but nothing for me. Smile

Do you think that the fact I was bidding against you when you were sitting next to me had a role to play in you not getting anything? Wink

HA.. I was about to give you a shot in the ribs for that one. Big Grin

However that magnum of H-B ended up going for way above what I was willing to pay for it. Quebecors sure do crave their Bordeaux and are willing to pay crazy prices generally. Especially First Growths. Eek

I thought we were in Hong Kong for a couple of lots (especially when you add in the add'l combined 27% House premium + tax)!

Impulse, while I think it's the wine of the vintage, I wouldn't plan on holding them for very long. I've had it 4 times and I don't think they'll get any better.

Just one more sip.

Thanks for the advice... I will definitely open one soon - it's our 10th anniversary this week-end, so it's the perfect timing!

I pretty much agree. La Mission and Haut Brion, imo, are the two most consistent producers of excellent Bordeaux. In one absolutely horrible vintage, 1958, and one poor vintage, 1974, La Mission made outstanding wine. In 1958, nobody else did.

Just one more sip.

In a fairly recent blog of his, Suckling mentioned that Latour was the best showing, overall, through a very long string of vintages. In his opinion. (Blog)
