Is this the "Classe M"? I'm not familiar with this producer but picked up a bottle a few months ago on a whim and am curious about it.

Last night for my lady's birthday

2000 Louis Roederer Champagne Brut

I'm not a huge fan of the Roederer Brut Premier NV, but this champagne was a huge surprise and was really fantastic.

1999 Il Marroneto Brunello di Montalcino

Really nice, and actually drank well considering we didn't really have food. About halfway through the bottle a cheese and meat plate showed up and made it even nicer.

2003 Zyme Kairos Veronese IGT

What an off the wall bottle this was, but the (I'm assuming) sommelier recommended this after he found out I wasn't just a casual drinker. He also failed to mention how much he was charging for it, but oh well. Really great, complex stuff.

That's all you had?

I couldn't make a list of everything that was passed in front of me, but I had a LOT of great burgs and bubbles.

The two wines that really stick out as a head above were the 1995 Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill and the 1978 maderia.

YUM.

Montaudon Brut NV is the base Montaudon product with the white label, normal bottle shape. The Classe M is very much distinctive; you can look up the Montaudon website to see which bottle is yours... the big red "M" on the Brut label can lead to some confusion.

When I had this (twice) about a year and a half ago, I thought it was a little young and needed maybe another year. We had one earlier this year and thought it was just about ready. We have friends coming to dinner who've never had a white Rhone, so I figured we'd try another.

Just one more sip.

Thanks. I should have been more clear...I know what mine is, just wasn't sure which bottle you were referring to in your earlier post. I take it that this is a house that you enjoy?

Indeed, I find Montaudon very approachable for the novice consumer and it is always well received by my guests. Goes great with Eggs Benedict... Cheers! Smile
