Tight at first, SPECTACULAR after about an hour in the decanter.

Turnbull Cellars 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label (*****) - fruit driven with mocha and red fruit on the mid palate. A dry finish was the only area that could use a little improvement.

1999 Rocca delle Macie Roccato

This wine has lovely mineral and red berry flavours, showing really well now. It's the first bottle from my cellar that wasn't dominated by tannin, and it was worth the wait.

2005 Karl Lawrence Beckstoffer Dr. Crane

Not anything like the To-kalon, at least right now.

Please explain, also, do you think these will need some time in bottle? I have not touched mine but I feel the standard '05 Karl Lawrence cab is ready to drink.

2007 Eric Kent Sonoma Coast Chardonnay- another winner from EK. I'm glad to have more.
2006 McPrice Myers Syrah Les Galets- this one was kind of strange, a little tight at first, but opened up to a really nice meaty, smoke, minty nose, only to later turn to raisin (!?!).
2006 Alesia Fairview Ranch Syrah- great nose, but lacking a little oomph on the palate and I don't think it's tight.

The TK was rollin after about 45 minutes.

The Crane was really backward and a bit green. Not flawed, just really acidic and the fruit wasn't to be found. I'm gonna let mine sleep for a couple years at least.

1998 Ch Smith Haut Lafitte

A very cool wine, but should be opened soon. The only drawback was a somewhat thin, herbal finish. But still an interest wine, and my first SHL. I would love to try a better vintage.

Try a good example of SHL Blanc (thx W+A). I had a 2005 last year, and pulled the trigger on nine of them recently. I'm looking forward to trying other vintages.
