Nice to see such a consensus around these wines! Big Grin

For my part, I have tasted all of the wines mentioned above, though most only once or twice, and my preferences have pretty much followed the prices: Amon-Ra and Godolphin (haven't carcked an Annaperenna yet), GAM much less so, and the Bishop I only had once but didn't love. Liked the Wallace and pretty much everything else by Glaetzer.

And FYI, if you like these wines, you will love the Heartland Director's Cut shiraz, even thought the scores on cellartracker are a bit weak.

Absolutely agreed... The Director's cut is terrific at the price point; Better than the Bishop IMO.

oh yes! i forgot all about heartland director's cut. good call! its very good! i've had the 03 and 04. probably like the 04 a little bit better. but i'd have to put the nod over with the 05 mitolo GAM because of its overall balance and structure. interested to try the first 06 bishop against them and see where it sits.

thanks!

i just cracked open an 04 wallace before the leafs-canucks game - for us canadians eh! Wink

its sitting in the decanter as i'm typing this. all i can say is that it smells wonderful. full of fragrant dark red fruit, licorice, tar, very smooth smelling. nose alone is worth it. alcohol has dissipated. lots of sediment on the bottle neck. all that's left to do is give it a swirl and a taste...

be back later with the results.

04 wallace is drinking well! now with some new complexities. not the most structured wine, but tasty and interesting.

ok sorry back to the 07 amon ra..
