While the auction is mentioned, there seems to be no info apart from dates and location anywhere on the website (though apparently I cannot find things on wine site home pages these days.... Roll Eyes). I called Waddingtons (who have now taken it over from Ritchies) to ask about a catalogue and got a nice woman who said that they were just finalizing the catalogue (a tad late, no?). She asked for my contact info and said someone would get back to me.

They wouldn't run an auction without a catalogue at least online, would they? Either way (late catalogue or no catalogue) it should cut WAY down on the number of purchasers, which can only be good for the rest of us, no?

Or am I just not finding it again?

I saw that, but like I said, that's only the date and venue, not the wines being auctioned (not the ones I can afford, at least!). Where does one find those/

I also called for info and have yet to hear back. I hope that there are fewer people...I got some serious deals at last years auction

You are right, there were some serious deals. Amongst those that were there that I spoke with, they all said that they would be back next time, most likely with a friend to get in on the deals!

Nice list for the Gala event. Almost makes me want to visit Toronto (almost).

I really like the little comment at the end "In order to optimize the tasting experience for all participants, please refrain from wearing any cologne or perfume." I've been to wine events where there were people wearing strong perfume (ok, women) and it is totally off-putting. Kudos to the LCBO for asking people not to wear perfume/cologne.

Not looking good for next year either.

grossie,

Asking people to not wear perfume/cologne is completely different from what actually occurs. Most people adhere to the request though.

Bippi Crosariol is part of the hype trying to reinflate auction prices - see link

Briefly finished the catalog, lots of goodies on Friday night as there are more 1-3 bottles lots on single wine. Saturday is not bad but mostly case lots which I can't afford. Sunday seems like it is put together from 3 thousand different people which I have some doubt on provenance....

Got my (free) hard copy of the catalogue in the mail yesterday, less than two weeks before the event. The online link appeared maybe 2-3 weeks ago. Methinks there will be many fewer bidders this year since the important details are arriving so late.

Shhhhhhh. I've placed my absentee bids.
I certainly hope to be more successful this year than in the previous auctions.
