Vinole, Yes, lots of strikes in France, for all manner of things. A few days ago my LWS's manager reminded me that folks are on holiday in France, so stuff shuts down. Have you received any futures yet?

No, B-21 is the only futures I bought. I buy most of my Bordeaux through ABC off the shelf (they sell futures by the case only, while B-21 is by the bottle). ABC's prices are as good or better than many other stores' futures. For instance, I've recently bought lots of Fleur Cardinale at $39, Grand Pontet at $40, La Clotte at $38, Pierre de Lune at $45, and Quinault L'Enclos at $47. I bought more Aiguilhe at $30 (same as B-21's futures).

Wow vinole, great price. no need to pony up for futures at that price point.

Nice! I'll do some small batch buys as well, as more roll in locally. Yes, nice price on the F. Cardinale indeed. Don't think my LWS can match that.

Guys. You don't want your 2005s shipped during the summer anyways. You can't be sure that the shippers would use refrigerated containers, so your wines could be cooked. It was hot this August in France, especially the southeast.

I drank a bottle of 2005 Gloria last night in a restaurant Bordeaux and it was glorious. Sure it was just a baby. But it was so good with lots of licorice, blackberry and fresh mushroom on the nose. Full and velvety-textured, it was tight but generous at the same time. It will be great in five or six years but I was happy to drink it in its youth too!

It was decanted at the table... It would have been better a couple of hours before.

Don't think anyone would argue with that James. I think most of these comments are in response to your question about what delivery dates we were promised. Don't know anyone that wants their 05 futures shipped in the Summer. I'll wait for the remainder of mine until the weather is better. quote: Originally posted by James Suckling: Guys. If you like, I would be happy to take your delivery and hold it for you With this, all retailers from which I ordered have let me know my 2005 futures are in...except Premier Cru of course.

What were the delivery dates promised for most of you? I would have thought Spring 2008?

Just a firm 2008 here. My LWS is upstanding, and I know they'll track down my cases at cost if they don't come in the shipments they're expecting early this fall.

They never promise, it's just an expected delivery date and this year it was delayed due in part to the strikes in France.

James- Wanted you to know that I was notified by Winex today that my 2005 Malescot futures have arrived. Not much left after this is delivered. Have received: Ch Margaux, Leoville Barton, Monbrison, Pavillon Rouge, Haut Bailly, Lascombes, and Brane Cantenac. After delivery of Malescot, I will still be waiting for Haut Brion, Villhardy, and Palmer.

You made some nice choices. I can't wait to try some of the 2005s at the Wine Experience tasting I am conducting in a few weeks. The Malescot will be there
