LOL Monty. Thank you for that. I will pull the cork on the Villhardy when it comes and provide you an actual report. Smile

Okay, I'm totally kidding, I've never tried that wine before, but since the questions were so persistent, I thought I'd have some fun with it. Hopefully the real wine turns out to be great and Graz loves it and/or makes a killing on flipping them. Smile

In honor of you being a good sport about it, I looked it up for you, and Parker gave it 90-93 from barrel and had nice things to say, and Suckling gave it 89-91 from barrel. You may have known that already and were looking for the bottle score, but just in case you didn't have that info.

Roger that Monty. It is not critical...just seems obvious by its absence...Has you mentioned, fairly highly touted by Parker...Just thought it would be included in the bottle tasting..

I think I already know the answer, however, what happened to your Bordeaux 2005 tasting scores for Chateau Pavie, Pavie Decesse, Monbousquet and La Croix St. Georges? Were they not bottled yet at your Dec tasting? thanks.

OK, I think we have beaten this horse to a pulp. Every year there are several wines that for whatever reason are not submitted for the initial tastings. James has said himself that they will be tasted in good time, most likely in March along with the 2007 barrel samples. I have several futures that still don't have a published score as well.

If more wines, such as Pavie, get 100 points, is it conceivable that you'll upgrade the right bank to 100 points? Smile

I noticed that the reviews from the 3/31 issue are now in the online database.

Had a great value tonight in the first '05 I've opened:

2005 Chateau Gravat (Medoc) - $11: Decanted 1 hour, drank over 3 hours. Deep plum color, a lot of good things on the nose: plum, black currant, vanilla wafers, sweet tobacco. Starts off with a lot of dark fruit with a transition to cedar and earthiness. Tannins aren't silky but they work well with the structure of the wine. Really opened up after 2 hours. Great value wine from the outstanding '05 vintage. 86-87 pts.

Having a bad night? Maybe you live on these BB's, however, some of us have another life. Big Grin The question was meant to gain more info...your sarcastic response undermines what you are trying to convey. Thanks anyhow!

For those looking for an awesome QPR, I think James nailed it on the 2005 Ch. Pressac St. Emilion...$29. Great wine, and I'd say his review is spot on. K&L and wine exchange seem to have some...

I just posted a note over in TN's....

In the QPR range....The Chauvin (which I don't think you rated?) is also a great buy.

What's the story on Pressac? I've never heard of it. Is it under new ownership?

I am going to taste Chauvin in a few weeks. Pressac has been making very good wines for a number of years. I visited the estate a few years back.

Anyone else have tasting note requests for wines that I didn't get a chance to taste yet?

Another vote for a great inexpensive, everyday 2005 -- I tasted the 2005 Chateau Brisson Côtes de Castillon last night on the recommendation of a friend and was quite impressed -- got a lot of lovely cherry, good tannin and leather/tobacco/spice notes. A fantastic value for $14/bottle (about $12 with case discount --I will be buying a case).

James, I subsequently looked up your notes on the 2000 and saw that was the first (and only?) time you have tried the Brisson. I would highly recommend giving it a try if you come across it. I have not had the 2000, but would be interested in hearing others' thoughts on the 2005.

Tried the 2005 Chateau D'Aurilhac (Haut-Medoc). Nice $15 bottle, very closed even after decanting but it's serious stuff needing several more years in bottle. It will be a nice everyday drinker in a few years.

My recommendation for the best 2005 Bordeaux value= 2005 Baron de Rothschild Speciale Lafite. Bought a bottle (then every case they had) for $12.99. If you can find it, try it. Superb Smile

Last weekend I tried the 2005 Dassault and found it to be excellent. At $35-50 (depending on where you get it) I wouldn't consider it an everyday drinker for me, but after trying it I picked up a 1/2 case to put away. Will pick up a couple extra bottles as I run across it at shops too.

I found this at my local, so I picked one up. Now, are you recommening drink or hold? As I understood it, the 2005 Bordauex is a hold item.
