If you're like me and fell in love with "Sideways" and were wondering if Hollywood would come out with another wonderful wine movie, the wait is over.

I just saw a screening of Bottle Shock which comes out Aug 8. here's the trailer: www.bottleshockthemovie.com. It's a wonderful gem and I think will do very well. Very funny and great performances.

What other great wine movies are there? Or movies inspired by wine...hmm...Can anyone tell me if bottle shock is real phenomena?

Another wine centric movie that came out in 2006 was "A Good Year", with Russell Crowe. Some loved it, I thought it a bore.

I am anxious to see "Bottle Shock". I cannot help but wonder how accurate the movie is to the actual event.

I thought "A Good Year" was pretty good. I like the scenes with the young Russell Crowe with his uncle in the cellar. Plus the women are beautiful and there's even that "cult wine" aspect of the movie which they did alright with IMO.

Wow. Before I watched that railer I thought I might really want to see this movie. Awesome cast. Alan Rickman is one of my favorite actors; Bill Pullman is great; Eliza Dushku and Rachel Taylor are a lot of fun to look at.

That trailor, however... Yikes! Eek

Well, if it gets good reviews I'll see it, but I'm not holding my breath. Especially if the studi is resorting to spamming this board in orderto generate interest.

And yes, bottle shock is deffinitely a real phenomenon

Judgement in Paris gave me a completely different picture in my head of the tasting and the events surrounding it than this trailer provides.

I didn't care for sideways. I thought it was annoying. That being said I'll check bottle shock out when it gets to blockbuster.

I went and saw Bottle Shock last night. Is it the best film I ever saw? No, but I did enjoy it (my wife thought it a little slow, but liked it) and would recommend it to any wine geek. I liked it much more than Sideways or A Good Year (which I enjoyed.)

When in doubt, open another bottle.

Terrible film. Random winks and nods thrown in for oenophiles ('49 Cheval Blanc for sale at a pool-hall in Calistoga?). Alan Rickman is a poor man's Alan Rickman, Bill Pullman is iritating and both Rachel Taylor's and Chris Pine's characters are completely superfluous. What makes this supremely troubling is that Chris Pine is the protagonist.

Pure Hollywood drivel whose only redeeming characteristic is helicopter shots of Napa County.

55 points.

I thought 'Great new' movies and Bill Pullman were mutually exclusive.

What about Spaceballs?

"Great" is not an adjective I personally would use for this clunker, or any aspect of it; terrible directing, writing, ridiculous dialogue, etc.

I was amazed that it even got a distributor to inflict it on the public.

Whenever someone recommends a movie to me that I haven't seen yet, I ask them to name at least three other movies they have liked. This allows me to better evaluate their recommendation.

If you found Bottle Shock "great," or even just "good," it might help if you named a few other movies that you liked; this way we'll know where you're coming from.
