I was looking in my fridge for my Stubbs marinade to discover I was out of it; so I remembered a lady who worked at a local Sav-A-Center in New Orleans in the meat department said use italian dressing. So I added A-1 steak sauce and liquid smoke to some italian dressing and it was the best marinade.

Sounds nasty. What kind of protein did you marinate?

My mother always marinated with Italian dressing when I was growing up. Maybe it's a New Orleans thing...

It was a first for me to try the salad dressing in a marinade; I use Stubbs. But the vinager is the element that helps to break down the toughness in a steak. The other two ingrediats were for flavor.
