How do you season yours Erin? Or, did somebody else cook?

We are back in the states for my brothers wedding this weekend so we have taken this opportunity to eat everything we have missed during our 10 months in London…

On the way home, we stopped in NY for a couple of nights so we could visit friends and Mrs. Glennk could shop in $$. Wink

Saturday night we went to Le Bernardin. We were a big fan of Eric Riperts restaurant in Grand Cayman, so we had to try the flagship. We went in excited and hungry so we decided to go full chef’s tasting with wine pairings. The highlights for me were a tasting of kumamoto oysters paired with sake, a poached egg with osetra caviar and 1995 Dom P., a barely cooked scallop in a goat’s butter emulsion paried with a Sauv. Blanc from Austria (can’t remember the producer). The rest of the courses were solid but nothing mind blowing. Only one course disappointed because they took a wonderful piece of Kobe beef and smothered it with an anchovy sauce?? The 2001 Chateau Haut-Bages that was paired with it was drinking wonderfully though. Service was quick and attentive, if a bit cold. Overall we got what we expected, extremely high quality seafood cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. Worth the money? The experience was for us, but we won’t be going back anytime soon if that makes any sense.

Sunday with friends we went Omakase at Sushi of Gari on the upper west side. We go here almost every time we are in town and have never been disappointed. Really inventive without losing the tradition.

Monday back in SoCal we hit up a local hole in the wall Mexican place so I could get my carnitas fix. Yesterday with my wife’s family we went to my favorite Korean BBQ, Shik Do Rak. Lots of meat, veggies, beer and soju. Tonight we are starting with a happy hour and we will go from there….

No problem! Was it the Oysters with Sake or the Caviar and 95 Dom? Smile

So this girl comes over for dinner last night and says to me, "I'll eat meat when I decide to, not because you're pressuring me." I then proceded to taunt her and eventually prepared spinach stuffed ravioli with white sauce and a nice syrah from Washington. Tonight I'm eating sockeye salmon alone...hmmmm.
