I have no idea if this is or could be totally fat-free. Every ingredient however, that can be, is.

ingredients:
2/3 cup powdered sugar, sifted
1 8-ounce block fat-free cream cheese
1 1/2 cups frozen fat-free whipped topping, thawed and divided
1/2 cup turbinado sugar
1/4 cup water
1 cup fat-free processed egg product
1 tblspn. sugar
1 tblspn. instant coffee granules
1/2 cup Kahlua or other coffee-flavored liqueur
20 ladyfingers
1 tblspn. unsweetened cocoa

directions:
Combine powdered sugar and cream cheese in a mixer bowl, beat at high speed until well blended. Gently fold 1 cup whipped topping into the cheese mixture.
Combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water and 1 cup egg product in the top of a double boiler over shimmering water. Beat at high speed w/ mixer until stiff peaks form. Gently stir 1/2 of this into the cheese mixture, then gently fold in second half. Set aside.
Combine 1 tblspn. sugar, instant coffee and Kahlua, stirring well until all dissolved. Split ladyfingers in half lengthwise. Arrange 20 ladyfinger halves on the bottom of an 8-inch square baking dish, cut sides up. Drizzle half the coffee mixture over ladyfinger halves. Spread half the cheese mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat this all w/ ladyfinger halves, coffee and cheese. Spread remaining whipped topping evenly over the top. Sprinkle w/ cocoa. Chill at least 2 hours. Eat it.

The ladyfingers probably contain fat since they are a cookie-type food. There is no way this recipe is 100% fat free.

Tiramisu is not tiramisu without mascarpone. What's the point of eating it any other way?

Also, I prefer my tiramisu with raw eggs. Making a zabaglione is a separate dessert, and shouldn't be used in this case.

This recipe has about a cup of sugar. Sugar turns to fat. I never understood the point of fat or sugar free desserts. People should eat less dessert and in smaller portions if they don't want to be overweight. Instead of eating the entire 4" thick slice of mud pie, take a few bites and be satisfied, or share it with the table.

Taking a closer look at this recipe, it gets a giant "wtf" from me. "Whipped topping," "egg product," "powdered sugar," "coffee granules"?

That has to be the worst bastardization of a classic dessert that I've ever seen. I'd never eat that, and I sure hope no one makes it.

If anyone wants a real recipe for tiramisu, let me know and I can post one.

Tira misu gets my vote as the all-time most over-rated dessert, evn beating out apple pie and strawberry shortcake. I can only shudder at the thought of how bad it must be when made fat free.

Just one more sip.

Damn, Board-O. I'm a big fan of both of these! A great apple pie with a flaky crust, or fresh strawberries on a real shortcake with a little fresh whipped cream are fantastic! Oh, and I love good tiramisu, also..... Wink

What say ye to poached pears, cheesecake, creme brulee, and berries with ice cream? Those are some of my favorites.

Just one more sip.

I am with Board-O, and making it fat free, makes it worse.
How about fruit tarts?
My wife makes killer poached pears.

I with the others who wonder what the point is in eating a fat-free dessert.

Sort of like drinking a non-alcoholic wine (which I did once; it was horrible).

I love 'em all, but gotta tell you that some of the most insipid desserts I've ever eaten have been poorly made cheesecake or creme brulee. I guess with all things, there's quality and then there's everything else....

As far as fat free dessert goes, I have several favorites. They all fall under the definition: fruit! Big Grin
