I'm looking for some help from those of you who have recently dined at either The Fig Tree or Biga on the Banks in San Antonio. I want to purchase a gift certificate for an anniversary gift. I'll be looking at $120-150 in price. I want to cover the entire food part of the bill and anything extra they can put towards wine. The couple is very food and wine knowlegeable, but don't go out for this type of meal very often.

I've pretty much narrowed it down to these two.
Any pros or cons of one over the other?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I think you're in good shape going either way. I would have originally said Biga because in my opinion it used to be better, but with the move to the Riverwalk Bruce Auden isn't around as much and I think it is now more in line and equal with Fig Tree.

It will be a wonderful gift either way. It's wonderful to have great friends!

Cheers, and Hook'em Horns !!

I think you're safe going either way. In my opinion Biga used to be a little better than Fig Tree but with it's move to the Riverwalk and the opening of Acenar, Bruce Auden isn't around as much.

Either way it will be a wonderful gift. It's great to have good friends!

Biga is my choice. Have your friends to ask their wait person if the kitchen will do a "tasting" for them. The last time we went that's what we did and it was fantastic. They will match wine with the chef's selections as well.
