I will be in Philly the week of May 23 and want recommendations of where 4-6 people can go to enjoy a good meal with a couple good bottles of wine. Want either a good in-house wine list or we'll bring our own and pay the corkage fee. Thanks.

Last November, my wife and I ate at a Philly restaurant called Overtures (on Passyunk) in a neighborhood that was roughly the Philly equivalent of NY’s West Village. (Down the block was a Fetish Boutique; across the street was a condom super store.) Still, this small BYO was pretty old school, with a lovely deep, jewel-tone blue ceiling and beige, tromp l’oeil drapery painted on the walls. You had a choice between a $50 price fixed 4-course dinner or ordering a la carte. We did both – my wife chose the 4-course dinner with a fantastic crab cake and baby NZ rack of lamb; I went with the pate to start and a medallions of wild boar in a green peppercorn sauce. For dessert, my wife had an apple tartlet with a dollop of cinnamon ice cream and I had a large slice of pecan pie. Very good and not unreasonably priced for the quality/atmosphere. I'd recommend it.
