Java, CRS first shipments started out at $40 per pound here in Dallas this year. I cost much more flying it from Alaska to Dallas compared to Seattle it appears. Great stuff.

I'm generally opposed to cannibalism, however I would consider the ritual consumption of a PETA member. Hopefully they will be grass fed.

I say the fishmongers slap PETA with a giant fish. Preferably a massive Chilean Sea Bass.

Not looking to debate, Javachip, but just a couple of items: 1) Copper River, being in Alaska, is not close to Seattle at all. It must be flown. To Washington or Texas, the price difference could be the cost of delivery. 2) Prices shown were first deliveries of the season. Always higher until more supply brings down the price. Itching for CRS immediately? Pay a bit more... 3) Have you truly tried this specifically? I've found it to have an incredible density of meat and both a noticeable difference in texture and flavour. If you've not tried any, and you love salmon, you should try. If tried and of your viewpoint, fair enough.... Just felt a need to clarify a couple of points...

The first of the season is always around $30 around here. Last weekend I paid $9.99 per pound for CRS Sockeye. Is CRS good? Yep. Personally, I usually wait for the Yukon River to come out. Just as great as CRS, but they don't have as good of an advertising agency.

I love the poll. Responses 1, 2 and 3 all basically equate to "WTF?" and predictably have over 95% of the responses. Response 4 can be read multiple ways. "I don't understand why vetrinarians would want to see animals treated like that" - well, I can't understand why anyone - vets or otherwise - would want to watch dead fish being thrown around either, but then I'm not from Seattle and I guess it's more interesting than basketball.

I don't like having my fish tossed across the counter either, so I shop at one of the other stalls. It has nothing to do with respect, or lack of it, for dead fish.
What would be more entertaining, IMHO, is a PETA tossing contest. Now, THAT has to do with lack of respect.

I posted this in the other thread about foie gras and PETA: PETA's tactics in south Florida are less militant: http://www.palmbeachpost.com/s.../05/28/0528peta.htmlMake sure to browse the photos, especially the last one. I actually heard of the protest ahead of time, and made sure to drive by it in order to see the "PETA beauties". Needless to say, I was most distressed to discover the shower curtain.

We don't have basketball in Seattle anymore. We gotta do something to pass the time.

As far as I can tell all PETA members are vegetables. quote: Hopefully they will be grass fed.
They don't just eat the grass, they smoke it.

I don't think there's a font or graemlin on this board that can adaquately express my WTF? reaction to that idea. That HAS to be a joke. Asumuing she's a female, is this "Tracy Reiman" going to volunteer herself to be hooked up to one of those dairy machines??? If so, get it on U-Tube!

Just what the country needs. Millions becoming addicted to dairy products due to, as yet to be discovered, trace elements of crack in breast milk. I've never known of cow crack whores, but who do you think would be the most interested in selling their breast milk into the marketplace for a little coin? Would they line women up in stalls like they do today to cows? Quite the picture. Is there a minimal IQ level required to belong to PETA? It seems not. The U.S. is not Switzerland

It appears from their website, anywhere between 40 to a max of 80. I'm glad to know we have a number of forum members that qualify.
