Spent over a grand at The Kitchen in Sacramento, with two guests, but that was on DnVsMom's company dime....
On my own dime? Gary Danko in SF for our 10 year anniversary. They printed a special, personalized menu for us with the courses and wine pairings (I consulted with the somm the week before and let him know what we would be bringing, and what we would be ordering off the list). Well worth the $$$.... Romeo and Juliet are together in eternity.... |

My most expensive was $750 with tip for my wife and my anniversary. I think the big problem was the Kobe beef, I wasn't even wowed by it. The rest of the food and service was perfect and the wine was great. Don't remember off hand what it was, but it was relatively inexpensive $150-200.

Sticky2, Wagyu refers to the type of cattle and Kobe refers to the region in Japan in which the cattle are raised. To give you a frame of reference of what it’s like, it almost has the texture and mouth feel of foie gras, but with an intense beefy flavor. I like it best in tasting menus because it’s so rich that I can only take a couple of bits. “What is the soup du jour?"...It’s the soup of the day..."Mmmm, that sounds good, I’ll have that” - Lloyd Christmas |
