Per the above article, when the President dined at a casual bistro in Paris, he had foie gras.
My reporter contact in Paris reported to me:

"They ate at the Fontaine de Mars, a mid-price, classic bistro I’ve been to many, many times. They had foie gras, gigot d’agneau and the classic dessert of Ile flottante, which is meringue floating in custard (I find it disgusting!).

When the word gets out that he had foie gras, watch out for the PETA wackoids.

I wonder whether they let him smoke a cigarette during his meal....

Sounds like they just ate what the chef decided to prepare for them once he knew they were coming. I hope PETA doesn't go off.

On the contrary, I hope PETA does go off. Could make for a lot of fun watching it unfold....

Foie Gras this, Foie Gras that... What's next? Perhaps Veal is going to be the new "Foie Gras"!

The PETA people, or an affiliated group, recently forced Beckta in Ottawa to stop serving foie gras, after persistent harrassment and death threats. Every time they score a victory like this, they will be spurred on to more and more militant tactics. One day, people may hesitate to buy meat from the grocery store, fearing PETA snipers on rooftops seeking vengeance for the martyred cow.

slightly off-topic:

PETA's tactics in south Florida are less militant:

Make sure to browse the photos, especially the last one.

I actually heard of the protest ahead of time, and made sure to drive by it in order to see the "PETA beauties". Needless to say, I was most distressed to discover the shower curtain.

He had to go for two years without it here in Chicago during the ban. Now he's making up for lost time.

Obama swatted a fly the other day and PETA released a statement criticizing him for this. Yet, they missed the foie gras incident.
A fly? A housefly only lives a couple weeks anyway, and Obama's killing of the housefly saved it old age and the fly nursing home.

That's not an issue here...gun toting PETA members in Florida looking to cause trouble would be gunned down on sight.

Then again..I do kinda of support PETA...People Eating Tasty Animals.
