I love duck. It's almost a crime to call it fowl.
Just one more sip.

Is that an attempt at humor?

If it is, he sure is making a quackery out of it.

No, not an attempt at humor. I consider duck far better than other fowl, although farm-raised pheasant and quail can be pretty special.
Just one more sip.

Growing up, we always had cracked crab, garlic bread, salad and Jack Daniels baked beans. Now that our parents have passed, every year we go to Laguna Beach for a few days and have dinner at my brother's house with his family. Smoked turkey, fresh cranberries, stuffed mushrooms and all the other traditional fixin's.
I intend to die in a tavern: let the wine be placed near my dying mouth, so that when the choirs of angels come, they may say, “God be merciful to this drinker!” Walter Mapes c. 1140-c.1210

We had it a couple of times when we lived in New Orleans. It is really good.

You can watch them lose in the comfort of your home eating turkey instead of nachos Got an extra ticket?
No, they play the Raiders. Should be a W. Of course now that I said that, they'll probably lose.

Wow! We were talking about Thanksgiving dinner again last night, and we now have a tough decision to make: Prime Rib, Tenderloin, or the traditional Turkey dinner????! Presently, Turkey is running in third place; and if we decide on the Prime Rib or Tenderloin roasts, I'll open a double magnum of 1999 Tresor. However, the wine for the Turkey will be one of these: 2003 Martinelli BSR, or the 1999 Cristom Reserve, or the 2000 Etude. I've never had a Thanksgiving dinner without Turkey! Can it be done?

I'm getting pressure for a prime rib roast for dinner here and to forget about the turkey. We've always made a turkey. Is it un-American to skip the bird for the cow?
Yes. Turn in your American flag lapel pin. I'm skipping the turkey this year for a brined and smoked goose. Probably a 10-12 pounder. We traditionally have lobster for either Christmas or Thanksgiving. Think we'll go with that too and save the dry turkey for December.
Wow. My father is huge on smoked dishes, does the Goose balance the oak chips well? I feel like whenever my dad makes a smoked dish, it's good, but the woodiness (woody-ness??) always seems slightly overwhelming.

After consultation with family, we're going with a prime rib roast. This will be the first time we didn't have turkey. Nobody will miss it.
Just one more sip.

Prime Rib Roast, I envy you! However, we're having aunts, cousins, friends, and many coming from out of town and Turkey was the winner. Somewhere in our future, we will serve Prime Rib Roast or a Tenderloin Roast!
