Well, you know the saying, you can be cocky if you can back it up. And IMO Rock can't back it up.
Anyway, I really don't care who wins or not because there's no chance I'll eat in their restaurant so whatever.

I hadn't watched this show in awhile...none of them deserve to run a restaurant.I'd take any of the Top Chef contestants over any of these people. I am no chef but c'mon, cooking spaghetti and searing scallops isn't that difficult.

Dump them all and start over. Roll Eyes

My EXACT sentiments. I've been wondering what street alley they have found some of these people. Josh, Melissa, and the guy booted before Josh, never should have made it through the door. How on earth can you be a professional chef and smoke? Just like a wine critic and smoking.....throws all credibility out the window. You need to be able to taste what you cook.

When you look at what the winner will get.....it's easy to say "Pass" on every one of them. $250k/year salary for the winner. I wouldn't pay any of these yahoos minimum wage to work at my burger joint. Well, maybe Bonnie, but she wouldn't be flipping burgers.

You would be surprised how many winemakers are smokers and same thing for some wine critics.

I doubt the winner will really run the restaurant, just like I can't imagine that last year's winner is really more than a figurehead. They'd better enjoy that salary. 1% of chefs, if that, will make that money in a year EVER.

It's kind of horrifying how many people in the industry smoke. I was always one of the only non-smokers.

I went to high school with Brad who was kicked off recently. He works out in Arizona. He's a cool guy.

I had a chef in Culinary school that was worse than Ramsay. It's a fun show, though.

My exact point. Why would you sabotage being your best. Kind of like a world class athlete putting on 40 pounds, then trying to perform their best. Just can't happen.

If the guys I worked with years ago ('70's), and in Bourdain's first book are any example, most cooks are BIGtime smokers. They need the nicotine to keep them going at full speed. If not cigs, then Speed was the other option.

It is great TV, but neither of the 2 finalists deserve to be exec chef at a big time restaurant, at least not yet. I know CHEFS, and everyone of the Exec Chefs and half of the Sous Chef I know are better than any of the finalists on Hell's Kitchen. However, it is great TV.

Same here.

Anyone also watching Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares or F Word On BBC America?

Unfortunately, I haven't seen a new episode in months. The last one was the actor's restaurant....

They started a new season, in January I think. I've only seen like 4-5 others though. (I do not remember if the actor one was old or newer. Confused) Also, some of those episodes that I thought were reruns are actually revisits several months later...

I don't get the BBC channel, unfortunately. But I'm curious how the American version of "Kitchen Nightmares" compares to the Brit?

No comparison really - British version excellent, American - not so much, it is FOXized. Still watched it, had some funny bits, but not nearly as good.

The BBC version seems somewhat less hostile. He and everyone else do curse quite a bit though. Ramsey does more group therapy. People seem to understand he's there to help (after all they invited him ) The Americans put up more resistance.
I liked watching some of the American episodes that took place on my old Long Island stomping ground...
