Had an interesting discussion at dinner last night and the wife and I were discussing what we'd have if it were our last meal on earth along with what last favorite movie we'd watch...here's what I came up with...

Apertif - Rose Champagne, vintage ('76 maybe...?) Krug or Dom with exotic Beluga caviar.
Appetizer - 2001 German (Mosul) Riesling, say a Joh. Jos. Graacher Himmelreich Auslese with fried calamari rings and a spicy red dipping sauce
Salad - spinach, walnut & pear with a warmed bacon dressing with a 2000 Pinot Grigio or 2001 White Burgundy...not sure which ones exactly...?
Main - (my) savory grilled lamb chops, mushroom cous-cous, garlic green beans and roasted new potatoes served with a vintage Burgundy Romanee-Conti of sorts or '82 Petrus would do.
Dessert - Creme Brule with a vintage ('01...?) Chateau d'Yquem
After - '94 vintage port, Grahams or Dow will do and some sort of chocolate morsel

Then a watch either Animal House or Old School and laugh my way to oblivion bliss.

Can I go tomorrow please...?

Double magnums may be in order. Nice selections.

I've got a posting in my head about wine and cheese and Heather and Selma, but I'm waiting for the right opportunity. Big Grin

Stef thought I made a good choice, and she agreed with the Tonger...no salad.

I'm with Paul's suggestion, except I'm adding Jessica Alba to the mix.

It depends. If I am in prison at the gallows or if an asteroid is going to crash into Earth in 24 hrs. It makes a difference. Please clarify.

I do not have the entire meal laid out, as some above do, but I can tell you foie gras will be involved. If I can rise up on my death bed, to pass one final morsel past my withered lips, it will be foie gras. A good port will also be involved, maybe a '63 vintage as I have always had good luck with that one. If I had to watch a movie on my final day, it would probably be Snatch.

As to what to pair with Heather and Selma, I thought that would be obvious. Viagra.

Good Thread!

I guess my last meal would have to be:

Grandma's Chicken Broth with Cheese Tortellini w/ asiago cheese. Antipasta tray with salami's, olives and cheese. Krug Grand Cuvee.

Baked Tortellini with a creamy sun dried tomato pesto, with homemade Italian sausage. (My own recipe) 1997 Dal Forno Amarone.

Grilled Waygu Ribeye-Med Rare with a Truffled Double Baked Potato. 1945 Latour

1967, 2001 D'Yquem

I love this thread, it will change everyday, though.

Nice call- this is in my top 2 or 3 of all time with Princess Bride being #1. I am surprised how many people havent seen or heard of Snatch. Brad Pitt's greatest acting job by far

Cool For me, forget the movie. Give me beluga with a teaspoon and a '76 Chateau Margaux (the wine that got me started), sitting on Paradise Beach on Mykonos.

OK, this thread took a turn...for the better when you start including the likes of Heather and Selma. So, for the sake of discarding the movie for some 'femme fatales', I'd like to throw my two favorite in the ring, so to speak...

Kate Beckinsale & Rhona Mitra (just google 'em and you'll approve)

I'd gladly do all the cooking for these beauties. Dessert would be on them...literally! Big Grin
