WIML was over for dinner tonight since he's off to Pittsburgh in the morning. We had:

Duck prosciutto crostini with arugala and shaved pecorino

Peppered veal tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto with creamy gorgonzola polenta, chanterelle and black trumpet mushrooms, and a veal stock reduction sauce

Creme brulee

Served with dinnner:

2001 Antonin Rodet Syrah
1998 Podere Poggio Scalette 'Il Carbonaione'
1999 Barone Ricasoli Casalferro (Sangiovese/Merlot blend)
2002 Brian Loring Gary's Vineyard Pinot Noir
NV R.L. Buller Fine Muscat

A wonderful dinner, and a fine ending to WIML's trip to Toronto. It was great meeting you, and I hope you had a good time while you were here, man! Smile

Wednesday night had St. Peter's Fish at the Eilat Cafe in Boca Raton. Not all that bad.

Thursday night had some nice lamb chops at the Kee Grille in Del Ray (or maybe it is Boca Raton) with a Raymonds Cabernet 2001.

(Shot a 93 Thursday morning. 3 mental mistakes cost me around 6 strokes. Rented clubs.)

grunhauser: Are you the only one eating? Come on, man, you know me better than that! My doctor says the only problem I have is a hyperactive fork.

Went on Sunday night to Sundy's, a great place in Del Ray Beach, FL. One of the most spectacularly beautiful restaurants to which I have ever been. The food was great, the wine was fine. Didn't actually see the wine list as the 4 of us were doing the by the glass routine. I had a mixed grill of osso bucco and lamb chops after a starter of calamari in aioli. Terrific. The menu was quite clever.
I heartily recommend it, though I will warn people that it was pretty doggone expensive.
(This won't matter to CDR11 and his cash carrying crowd).
Now, back home in Baltimore.

Chicken breats stuffed with Kalamata olives and goat cheese and then poached in the oven within a nice simple onion/garlic tomato sauce. Served with haricot vert and then we made a nice basil/spinach pesto in which I melted into the red sauce to tighten things up.

update: kangaroo came out perfect! marinated most of the day in soy sauce, honey, NZ sea salt, african cayenne pepper and a 10year old balzamic, then qickly stir-fried with 1 red and 1 green chilli peppers, ginger, garlic and young onions. served with sesame rice and just warmed through snap peas and broccolini on the side and a bottle of Pipers Brook pinot '00. a winner! no comparison to my last encounter with this beast.

Ate at Due last night in Owings Mills MD.
4 of us.
I had a calamari starter and osso bucco, with spinach and asparagus sides. The others had salad and a tuna, with porcini mushrooms, olive tapanade and veggies.
We had a 2000 Phelps "La Mistral"-mostly Syrah and Granache with a few other things mixed in, and an Antinori Chianti Classico 2001.

This is the best osso bucco around, and I bring the bone home for the dog.
