Kinzie Chophouse.

I think if you dine on a Tuesday it is half off all their bottles.

Great steak...(mouth salivating!!!)

Most of my favorites are actually ones that you can probably visit in NYC, or at least other areas. Morton's is the best for me, and I also enjoy Ruth's Chris and Joe's, although people may go there more for seafood & crab - but their steak is outstanding.

Some of the more local ones to Chicago such as Gene & Georgetti, Gibson's & Chicago Chop House just don't measure up to those others in my opinion. If I had to choose one of those, though, it would be the Chop House.

We have had mixed experiences at Kinzie. One time I went with my wife and we both did not think our steaks were that great, but she went for business another time and said it was very good - we may have just hit it on one bad night. I have heard about their deals on wines, but never experienced.

Keefers is still good, no? Although that is more of a scene than Kinzie

If you want a "truer Chicago experience", try Gene & Georgetti's. Business casual dress code. That probably ruins it for you.

Another typically Chicago steak house is Gibsons.

Gibson's. People go for the scene but go back for the food.

We are also fans of Keefer's - forgot about that one. It goes a bit under the radar. I have heard of others not liking it as much, but we have only had good experiences.

Across the street is Harry Caray's, which does make a good steak (as well as many other Italian-themed dishes) and I don't know if you can get much more Chicago than Harry.

Gibson's and the Chop House are both very solid. If you want a slightly altered Chicago experience, hit Ditka's for Da Pork Chop - one of the best shops I've ever had.

Good choice. Here's an idea from Johnny Depp about dining at the place (apparently his favorite):
