Padma is probably the best cook amongst the women remaining on the show.

That's one of about 20 things she has over this cattle crew.

Classier, Prettier and Double the IQ are 3 right off the bat.

Sorry but I thought that was a stupid show last night. I know they are looking for gimmicks, but I don't watch this to see if little kids are going to like a whole wheat pasta dish or a quick fire with uncle Bens.

I get the "Well - any good chef should be able to make chicken fingers or whatever along with Fois Gras" but please - This is "Top Chef". They already had a tailgate party and made pizza. Let's keep this a little high end? Roll Eyes If I want grilled cheese, I can watch Rachel Ray Razz [end of rant]

Anyway, it worked for the Mac and Cheese types like Nikki. She must have been jumping on a challenge like this.

It looks like a few could have gone and they seemed to dislike Stephanie's dish the most, but with the editing, sometimes it's hard to tell. Mark saying he thinks Tom doesn't like him to his face was funny. What a wuss. He should have gotten the boot just for that - maybe he did! I would have approved. Razz

I agree on the episode - that Dale and Richard for once were not in the tops was indicative that the challenge was flawed as they seem to be in a different league from the rest considering they are almost always in the top of every quickfire and elimination (both in the to of the quickfire) - That Nikki was in the top of this challenge seemed to indicate the challenge was flawed as she sucks.

Definitely the right call for Mark to go - consistently in the bottom - I think Stephanie benefited from being relatively strong throughout so they did not kick her off -

As for her dish, I am not saying it was good - it probably tasted like crap but there are plenty of dishes that combine peanut and tomato that work and I personally don't find anything inherently wrong in that -

I agree that the challenge did flip flop the worst for the best last night but Stephanie has been slipping the last few weeks. She seems to have lost some confidence and focus. The first few weeks she was killing and always in the winner's circle. She's become "average" right in front of our eyes.

Doing weird mixes of ingriedients works if it tastes good, so yeah - that Tomato/Peanut Butter thing probably just didn't taste good at all.

I may have to challenge you to put a tomato-peanut butter dish together for me that I would eat Razz

Yeah that episode sucked. Winning dish is chicken stir fry with whole wheat noodles!?!? She even said thats what she makes at home for her daughter.

I loved Tom's response to Mark...don't overcook, undercook, underseason your food and I'll like it.

The bitchy gal needs to go next...seems like a two man race with Dale and Richard begin head and shoulders above the rest. Outside of those two, I think this is a pretty weak season. My money is on Richard.

I hate these stupid challenges that have nothing to do with professional cooking. It is not Top Home Cook on a Budget or Top Cook Using Nasty Instant Products.

And yes, let's bring children into the kitchen and when one of them cuts himself, let's just run it under the water and send him back to peel some more without covering up the wound. Tasty!

Actually, one of my daughters picks one meal that they would like to cook each week. They alternate weeks and look forward to doing this. They are closely supervised and get help for either my wife or myself but the planning and execution is largely up to them. This provides a good time to teach them kitchen safety and we usually try to incorporate some sort of a math lesson with it when they are measuring out ingredients. They have a few children’s cookbooks and usually pick something from one of them. I am a strong believer that kids should feel comfortable in the kitchen as soon as they show some interest. Also, there have been no injuries yet.

As far as the show is concerned – I agree that this has no place here. I want to see “Top Chefs” be chefs.

Altaholic, my comments are not directed to home kitchens at all. I'm speaking about professional chefs not having any real sense of sanitation or food safety and passing that on to the kids. Seriously, even though it was just a small cut, he needed to have it properly cleaned and covered before getting to continue with his work.

It was a trainwreck of an episode.

Rachel Ray should have been the guest chef....that type food is right up her alley.

Kids with sharp objects. It could have been a replay of the SNL episode spoofing Julia Child.

Chef Tom got a little nervous as the one kid was pounding away with a giant frying pan.

The show could have easily been Top Chef 911.

Smile

I totally agree this show was weak. Nikki and the nasty chick that is always dropping f-bombs need to go. Spike and Andrew have been just sitting in the middle the whole time, will be interesting if they step it up when they start making more gourmet food.

Good back to basics episode. Nikki finally goes!
Back to Sbarros for you or wherever you work.

How classicly ironic though. She never was any good but got saved by making pasta and pizza all season. Then on a wedding episode, she falls into italian fare again! and gets to cook for the groom who loves italian food and even makes pasta - again and it all sucks. See ya.

Stephanie is starting to come back in the top 2 or 3. She is easily the best female (not hard with this crew) and always was. Dale is slipping a few notches as he doesn't seem to deal with adversity too well.

It's Richards to lose. He is just clearly better than everyone there and I think they all know it.

Personality does matter.

Richard has it. How gracious was he to offer his prize to his team mate? Never complains. He wanted to choose the bride to make her day special. What a good guy. Very talented as well.

Dale has become a volcano. The explosions are wearing thin. He may well be right behind Richard in skill, but he is trailing the pack in likability.

So long as they don't have a fish scaling elimination round, Richard should win it all. Smile

So glad she is gone.

It is definitely Richard's to lose. He may seem a bit pompous at times but he endeared himself to me on episode 1 when he talked about Chicago being a great food city. He's very solid and a decent guy. It will be him and Stephanie in the final. Andrew will be in the final 3.

Oh - Almost forgot:

I gotta give Spike huge kudos for the best line of the season last night. When Dale was just blathering and complaining about his teamates but not calling them out directly in front of the judges "You are such a little bitch...." lol

I've never caught an episode, but all this chat about it makes me want to. When does the next season start? Winter/Spring 2009? And, of past seasons, which are most memorable?

It starts after the first of the year.

Last year had a really strong cast, certainly the final 6 were all capable.

Just caught the last episode on Tivo. The right decision was made but I almost wanted Dale to go for being so immature. I agree that Richard is the best by a long shot.

The best part of this show was Padma and her red dress Cool

When isn't she?

When is there going to be another female contestant as hot as Casey from season 3?
