Closest I can make that out is Cipriani which is nice, or Esca if you're looking for Italian, or 5 Nine and Kittychai for new and trendy venues.

Here's what the New York Times has to say about it:

1382 First Ave.
New York, NY 10021
Phone: (212) 861-1102
Traditional items like fried calamari, minestrone, spaghetti puttanesca, saltimbocca and roast lamb are on the menu, along with pasta, fish, chicken, veal, lamb and steak dishes, at this Upper East Side Italian spot.

it's such bad weather this week you might just luck out at Babbo tomorrow night. the open tables start at 5:30pm not 5pm?

Batali has a new place or Irving - Casa Mono, Spanish. It's small and still new, won't need reservations.

Wine bar at 5, tables at 530. The host said if I was there at 5, I would almost certainly get a table. So..... I'll have to suffer and drink some Italian wine until dinner!

babbo was the only place i liked the pasta, freshly made to perfection, it ruins you for every other place though Roll Eyes have a light lunch and indulge at dinner Smile

Yes!

We got to Babbo at 5pm, sat at the bar in the corner. We were there until 8, eating and DRINKING. It was great. They pour "Quartino's" of vino in little decanters (1.5 glasses?). They had 5 red italians on that day's menu, I had 3, and since we were talking to the bar tender, she gave me tastes of the other 2 reds offered by the quartino.

Notes to follow in TN area.

I will be back there as often as possible. Oh, yeah, the food was great, too.
