My wine loving daughter just moved to Austin to start grad school.

She is wanting to know of any nice wine bars in town. She found several nice places with great beer already.

My daughter did some of her undergrad work in Europe and enjoys fine wine and beer.

TIA,

I talked to a friend who lives in Austin and she recommended the following.

Malaga Tapas & Bar
208 W Fourth St
My friend said they have a lot of wines by the glass as well as by the bottle. If your daugther is on a grad student's budget she'll like the happy hour as they offer some wine for $3/glass and tapas for $6.

Cru
235 W. 2nd Street
This is actually part of a small chain. There are a couple in the Dallas area, I believe.

Cork & Co.
308 Congress Ave
This place recently opened. They also have a retail shop and events and classes.

Wink Restaurant and Wine Bar
1014 N. Lamar, Ste. E. Austin
The link she sent to me made find this the most appealing as the food looks good. Also, the owner/chefs are from Brio Vista in Austin. I had a very good meal there when they worked the kitchen.

What will your daughter be studying?

It isn't a bar (although they have tastings and flights) but tell her to check out Grape Vine Market. It's a fantastic retail outlet just north of the intersection of MoPac and Anderson Lane. They have probably 5000 or so labels and a great selection of gourmet products.

Cheers, and Hook'em Horns !!

LOL! Good question I also ask. Wink

She entered the Ph.D program on Public Policy and Mass Media. She had a paper published that helped her gain admission. The title was "Hegemony as It Relates to Cultural Assumptions and the Mass Media". Confused

Some 2000 applied for the program, and 23 were offered a spot. I guess someone knows what this is! Big Grin

Anyway, your spots in Austin are just as wonderful as your spots in Chicago... THANKS.
