Are you saying that you are not into cooking? I know you're a confirmed foodie, and love great food, but does D do all the cooking in the W+A homestead?

Whoa! I think I'm one day older than you! I always thought that it was the other way around. All my special stuff happened last weekend, mostly a surprise. Today is my mother's birthday, and if my dad were still alive it would be their anniversary on the 25th. Combined with Mother's Day, May has always been an expensive month for me.

Happy Birthday, DVD! Funny to read this. I just picked up escargot today at the market for an upcoming meal.

VERY NICE! Highly recommend)

Our favorite local bistro is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and has brought back its 1999 menu for a while, which is kind of cool. Two things we hadn't had in almost 10 years were kir royale and crepes suzette (which were absolutely delicious!) to start and end; in between we ordered quiche lorraine with frisee salad; tomato and chevre tarte; Normandy sole with shrimp, clams, mussels and mushrooms, beautiful presentation; and arctic char on barley risotto (I didn't know you could do this with barley). And at 1999 prices, this was a bargain evening! Also 2004 Michel Niellon Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Abbaye de Morgeot, beautiful wine that continued to evolve over 2 hours, better than the Girardin bottling of same wine that we had last week

I believe you and I will be eating there in the next couple of months, though the prices will be back to normal by then. It is our favorite restaurant in Vancouver, and has some other advantages as well.
