The Derby is only 3 hours away. I am about to start making my Juleps. What recipe does everyone else use? I am a single drink man never got into the bulk mixing.

I start with a Julep Cup about a TBS of powdered sugar add about 4-5 mint leaves and enough bourbon only to make a paste. Then I add about a half glass of crushed ice, put in a short straw, and add about 2 oz of good bourbon. I top the glass the rest of the way with crushed ice and garnish with a few mint leaves. Yum Yum.

Well, we generally made it in larger quantities - we started with a handle of Makers mark - added ice and then drank that while we made mint julep. Wink

Take equal amounts of sugar and water - generall we did four cups of each - boil it down to a syrup - add a bunch of fresh mint. Place it in fridge to cool (we normally did it overnight). Fill a cup with crushed ice, add the mint syrup (tablespoon or more depending on the glass) and a shot or two of makers. Stir. garnish, drink and repeat.

I guess my post was a little misleading I didn't mean to say I only have one Julep. I just meant I do them one at a time. Wink
