Receiving the recent Pride offer letter had me check out how much Bob Foley made wine I already have in my cellar. Probably too much. But one thing that might help me solve this dilemma is:
What kinds of foods do you find go well with Petite Sirah, Charbonno or Cab Franc? ----------------------- Randy Sloan Match Vineyards http://www.MatchVineyards.com |

Petite Sirah - chargrilled streaks or BBQ maybe?

My normal take on Petite Sirah is that it goes best with the dump bucket.

An earthy dish. Grilled meat with grilled herbed veggies. I have a smoker I like to use this time of the year.

My bottles of Outpost and Switchback will never see a dump bucket in my house. Real good stuff. A lot of simple PS out there I agree, but like any red varietal producers - there are contenders and pretenders. |

Randy,
I've only had the Charbono by Foley, and liked it pretty well (had it while camping). I love many others' PSirahs, so hope Foley's is typical of style. I think the Charbono and the PS would be great with some good chili (not nuclear-hot), and some shredded cheddar. Bust them out this summer at an outdoor party for the red wine crowd who wants a break from Zinfandel. -B "You should always read the label, you should always read it well"-Mrs. Featherbottom, AKA Tobias Funke |

Randy,
We use to drink quite a bit of PS (SLeap/Turley/Arroyo) but have not had Foley's. I like indybob's suggestions on the food. I would also offer-up grilled short ribs with PS which is a very nice combo; and we often have PS with Moo-Shu Pork or Beef and it goes quite nicely. KarenT www.jeanedwardscellars.com |

Charbono actually goes well with grilled chicken and meats. The tangy acidity/unique spice profile does well with smoky flavors, in my opinion.
I've had a lot of Charbono over the last few months, and although none were outstanding, I do enjoy them quite a bit. Oh, and Old World Cab Franc and sushi is a new pairing I discovered and love! Grilled salmon and tuna go great as well. Quickly, bring me a beaker of wine, so that I may wet my mind and say something clever. - Aristophanes foodandwineblog.com |

I like Bogle's Petite Sirah, and it would pair well with a grilled steak.
