The kind with pedals, or a motor? (If it's the latter, maybe you could ask Board-O to pick up a nice belt for you, while he's still shopping for that kind of stuff.) With a motor and, yes, I've remarked about that posting to him. If we ever get to offline on Long Island, I only request that he please be sure to wear the hat (along with the rest of his outfit of course).

I'm sure it's just a cultural thing in Marin County, but up here in the True North we expect a somewhat different report when somebody writes that they got lucky while cooking for a group of women. We say po-TAY-to, but I'll bet you say po-TAH-to, eh?
To each his own sir.

Over the last few nights - Linguine with prawns, garlic, capers, and cherry tomatoes from the garden. 2008 St. Clement Sauvignon Blanc Bale Lane Vineyard. Grilled cheeseburgers at a family get together - no wine as I was driving the two+ hours home. Last night at the club after our member/junior tournament - ribs and chicken, green salad, and "loaded" mashed potatoes. 2006 Ancient Peaks Zinfandel.

Tonight I made chicken tacos -- in the Street, or Taco Truck, style. Marinated some boneless, skinless chicken breasts in evoo, lime juice, garlic, red onion, and cilantro. Grilled over charcoal, diced and served on 4" corn tortillas that had been quickly heated in an oiled pan. Topped with salsa fresca, cilantro and a squeeze of lime. Paired with an '07 Hayshed Sauv Blanc. That's Summer!

After the infamous screen door incident, I never would have taken you as a "puff pastry" kinda guy! Funny First time I tried this. Like it. However, next time I'll forego the pastry to keep it together and use tootpicks or twine. The pastry, while very good, was unnecessary.

Hot outside, close to 106, hope the Oregon grapes are handling the heat.
Decided to do a test Paella on my Weber Kettle instead of my Paella burner. Used a 16 1/2" Paella pan, supposed to serve 10. I first cooked some chicken thighs and local sausage on the bbq using indirect, then removed it. I arranged the briquets all around the bottom of the kettle on the edge, leaving the middle with no briquets. Put the pan on, it fit perfect. Started with onions and garlic, with lots of olive oil. Then dumped in the bell peppers, fresh garden tomatoes chopped up, the cooked thighs and sausage, added a little smoked paprika. When this got cooked down a little I added the bomba rice, gave it another coating of olive oil and then dumped in the chicken stock broth. Turned a little of the heat down by closing the bottom and top vents and let it go for about 45 minutes, added some more stock and pulled it around 50 minutes. Let sit for 5 minutes and it was perfect. Will do this again for a dinner party, probably will add some pork and shimp at the end next time.
The Weber is for more than grilling hamburgers and steaks!
