I need suggestions for a restaurant in Santa Monica/ Marina del Ray. Doesn't need to be the finest dining or chicest choice. Good interesting food and wine list in pleasant surroundings. Ideas?

im going to assume you're already familiar with Melisse & Valentino... definitely fine dining and a high tariff but i dont know if you can talk about Santa Monica dining without mentioning these institutions...

my favorite restaurant in the area continues to be Josie... just wonderful, excellent food and an always reasonably priced winelist. if i lived in the area... id be hard pressed to not go mutliple times a month.

also, if you like Tapas, Primitivo in Venice. again, very good food and nice, diverse, variety of wines.

another place i like, not necessarily a wine list type place, is Border Grill... very tasty Mexican (don't think Tex-Mex, more Central Mexico).
