2003 Martinelli Bondi Home Ranch Water Trough

KSC, I had some Copper River salmon two weeks ago and also paired it with the classic pinot match. I had an 05 Walter Hansel Cahill Lane which was excellent as it was restrained and elegant. I am thinking the Martinelli might be too big a wine that might overpower the fish, which you want to avoid. Just my two cents.

vinole: Too late. Opened the Martinelli. However, by the time we got to it, it had a bit of air. Indeed, it wasn't overpowering at all.

Grilled the CR Salmon on the BBQ on Cedar Planks. Simple rub on the planks of EVOO, a pinch of salt and cracked pepper. BBQ'd on closed cover until nicely ready. String beans and mashed potatoes to go with. Very homie. MMMMMMMMM

Took w+a's advice and enjoyed the Brewer-Clifton Sweeney Canyon Chardonnay warmer than I normally would have. In one word: Beautiful. Very enjoyable and a great starter.

The Bondi Home Ranch Water Trough just paired nicely. Light drinking tonight actually. Just the two bottles. Very enjoyable meal. Smile

KSC02-

Did you get your SeaBear catalogue in the mail? Lots of great salmon still to come this summer. Cool

No, no catalogue, yet.

I DO wish I'd ordered more than I did. Go figure. Roll Eyes

However, there is Coho coming in September. Cool

So it's worth doing through Seabear? I have been tempted. Other than the Copper River, is there anything else you are itching to try?

IMO, Yes. For the CRS surely. There are several other items that catch my eye (the oysters and King Crab Legs look awesome). However, Montreal is a seaport of sorts, and it's close to the Atlantic Provinces, so fresh seafood is very obtainable. Thus, I'm quite selective and, as of yet, unconvinced to pull the trigger for these items. Maybe in the future. The CRS is a delicacy for me, of which I'm willing to spend the $$ and see the value.

Thanks for the input. I might not do any this month, but they are offering Copper River salmon shipments in September as well. I have never had it, but I have always heard it's delicious.

Just get some thresher shark. Some French cooking and that would be beautiful. Smile

Got the email last evening. This is actually their second shipment. They sent an email a few weeks ago, with an option to choose one of two shipping weeks. I chose this one. You should be hearing from them soon with a similar email, I would think.

KSCO2,

I got a call last evening, seems Seabear ran short of product, and will ship again next week. I had to postpone a dinner party - bummer!

WOW! I'm debating this time whether to pull the trigger. Montreal being a port city close to the N. Atlantic not sure if I'll seek this out this time around. Hmmmm...

Discussions yesterday were regarding the soon to come deliveries of Lobster caught that morning and trucked into the city, along with cases of crab's legs!

Oh the choices. Big Grin

You must be kidding.

Copper River Salmon isn't offered in the markets here as so many other choices, from the East coast, are available.
This means a special direct shipment.
Not impossible, surely. Maybe I need to re-evalaute. Roll Eyes

What's up with the salmon run this year? It's mid May (usually the time in which the run starts) and I haven't seen much wild salmon in the stores nevertheless at restaurants. The only store I've seen in at locally is Central Market 39.99/pound for sockeye but no king salmon.

Central Market had King this weekend...north of $40.00 a lb. Eek

Central Market is usually the first place to get it in our area. I expect others by this weekend and the prices to start to slowly drop a little as a result. It's just running a tiny bit later than normal.
